I don't like giving poor reviews but as a south Indian, I was very disappointed with the standard of food. Feedback is about improvement and I hope the management pay attention.
Having seen the response from the management, I have decided to update my feedback slightly.
I recognise that this is a Tamil restaurant (and I've travelled the length and breath of Tamil Nadu) however the dishes were not extraordinary in any way.
I ordered a take away tonight and the poori masala (my favourite dish ever) was a total let down. The pooris were soaking in oil (pooris retain some oil but they are not meant to drip in oil). The accompanying potato masala was mushy and oily, and lacked real flavour (the potatoes did not taste fresh - had a mild fermented aroma - only the management will know why). Often potato masala has small chunks of potatos but this dish was like oily, pale yellow mashed potato. I noticed a lack of fresh curry leaves in all the dishes (a key ingredient in south Indian cuisine) or fresh ginger. No green chillies either (at least none that were visible to me). It seems as though these ingredients were used but in a paste form.
The chicken rasam was OK (the least worst) but a tiny pot for nearly £7 is not good VFM.
Finally the chicken kuruma (a south Indian dish but based broadly on the korma dish from North India) was average. Overly creamy and inauthentic. I've eaten chicken kuruma in Tamil Nadu and this was miles apart.
I wish you well but I won't be ordering from you again. There appears to be a pattern in the reviews between those who are familiar with south Indian/Tamil food (including Indians) and those...
Read moreToday 13-July, I visited the restaurant for their unlimited breakfast menu. We arrived around 10 AM. Unfortunately, the food looked stale, and although we expected it to be hot, it was just warm. The moment I tasted it, I could tell it wasn’t freshly prepared — none of the items tasted good.
Idly: The batter was sour and lacked salt.
Coconut chutney: It was spoiled and had an unpleasant smell.
Poori: The first one was decent, but the second batch in the buffet was half-cooked with raw dough inside — it was inedible.
Potato curry for poori: It was already spoiled and smelled bad — definitely not fit to be served.
The other items were just average and nowhere close to authentic South Indian taste.
It wasn’t just me — many others who came for breakfast had the same complaints, and some even raised it with the owner. When I brought it up, she claimed the food was freshly made and blamed the spoilage on the hot weather. I don't think that is entirely true. We don't expect a food to spoil in such a short time and if it was spoiled they shouldn't be serving it at the first place. Even after sighting the food has spoiled, we did not see any attempt has been made to replace the spoiled food. They kept serving the same food for everyone, even when there were families with young children dining in.
Overall, it was a disappointing experience and a waste of money. I hope the restaurant takes this feedback seriously and serves better quality food in the future. As of now, I wouldn’t recommend this...
