As a season ticket holder at Leeds I've been over for soo many games the Griffin is always a stopping point, service can be slow and no eye contact from the bar staff seems to be the "norm" and I've sort of got used to it. This weekend took the biscuit with me. There were 2 lads behind the bar, I couldn't see any name tags , the tallest of the 2 just totally blanked me and others, walked around like he was busy then when he saw we were served grunted in out direction. This happened more than once and I actually began to think this guy has taken a dislike to me ! he wasn't serving anyone and I caught his eye a few times trying to get his attention and he just looked away. Served other people around that came in behind me ... and eventually served me and it was as if he had to and really couldn't be bothered !! When I returned later with family we sat in there at the top of the bar near the door, not sure if that's an area they don't serve from but at least 3 staff him included saw us there and totally ignored us, we had to go to the other end of the bar to get served, unfortunately it was the same lad who ignored us again it was at that point I thought it definitely was personal. My son wanted to say something but we were in company and I didn't want to make a scene as I've said been here loads ate and drank on countless occasions but I really felt that getting served was going to be down to if the staff could be bothered ? I'll nip in again on the 16th see if my suspicions are right if they are it's a wide berth I'll be giving it in future.
Reply : I was at the bar initially around 12.45 at the bar for both goals. last till from the front door. We (4 of us) returned 18.20 ish entered the top end of the bar near the door, my son and I went to the...
Read moreIncompetent Door Men/bouncers. I was refused entry twice for no good reason, along with my dad on both occasions, and my fiancee on the second occasion. The first time they just said "not today lads" and made us move on, which we didn't question at the time. We initially assumed that it was either because it was too full inside, or to do with dress code. The second occasion was earlier today (just before 1pm, 30/4/22), when we walked up and the two bouncers arrogantly stared us up and down, and then claimed I was "swaying", and refused to let the three of us in. Meanwhile, the one that accused me of swaying had his head buried in his chest laughing at us, as we were debating their accusation. I was not swaying, I was trying to get my wallet out of my jean pocket to get my ID, due to the fact they were staring at us, assuming that's what they were going to ask for. We were across the road before trying to enter the Griffin, in Tapped, at a window seat, and could clearly see the bouncers letting loads of people in without even looking at them, so we are unsure what their issue was with us as we were walking towards them. Appalling and unprofessional behaviour, they shouldn't have their jobs.
Edit: My dad went back to get the names of the two bouncers, they refused, he tried to take a picture of them, and one of them grabbed him, and after that they just turned their backs to him. From further investigation, I was chatting to a really nice bouncer next door at the Bankers Cat, who told me both of the guys have only been working as bouncers for a few months,...
Read moreSunday @ 11.30am, clean, fairly quiet. Ordered food at the bar with ease. Waited around 40 mins for a chicken/bacon sandwich, cheese toastie, BBQ chicken x 2 and scampi & chips. Waitress came to apologise for the wait and said our food wouldn't be much longer (45 mins in total). Appreciated this as we were beginning to think they had lost our order. High expectations due to the wait for food. Unfortunately it was really just mediocre. Daughter didn't get tartare sauce with her scampi (like menu stated). Didn't get coleslaw with the BBQ chicken (like menu stated). Other daughter's toastie was ok, but it had become soggy from condensation off the plate underneath (perhaps it could be laid on a napkin before serving?) Also, it wasn't very hot and infact the chips were barely warm! Portion size, mediocre again for the pricing. The waitress did ask if everything was ok, but I couldn't lie nor complain and so kept quiet whilst my husband nodded and said yes! We had waited that long I just didn't want to fuss and have to wait some more. Food seemed very slow coming out the kitchen. Couldn't fault the staff really as they were apologetic. The guy behind the bar even came across before we left and apologised again for the wait. Also, I thought £3.50 ish for a regular coke/lemonade was steep. Our bill should of come to £68 but with the Greene King Family/Friends app it was £57. In all honesty it wasn't even worth that because of the...
