Update April 2023. If I could remove a star I would. Was here in April on a Saturday. It was very busy and no available seating. Plenty of bar staff asking “who’s next?” Then the bloke under filled our pints of Nicholson Pale. By the time the beers settled, they had a 1“ collar! I did not take them back courtesy of my last visit in Nov 2022. Then the barman was not happy to top up(it was quiet) but reluctantly did. Drank our beer quickly and went to the Head of Steam close by. Beer was cheaper plus beer poured and topped up without asking just like in the Duck and Drake. Otherwise, this is part of the Nicholson chain of pubs and is situated, just outside Leeds railway station. On my visits there, it generally has a good selection of real ales available on hand pumps. It does food although not tried it yet but I have in another one of their pubs within Leeds and it was good pub grub. Gets busy when local Leeds FC play. A friendly place to meet up and have a drink after arriving by train or prior to catching a train from across the road. Definitely worth a visit but get your...
Read moreMyself and my wife visit leeds regularly for w/ends away through following LUFC,always staying at the discovery hotel right next door.for some unknown reason have never visited the hotel as we tend to stick with our usual haunts howeverthis W/END 25 26 and 27 of April 2019 we gave it a go after the villa game and as I am a connoisseur of cask ales ( can't stomach the laboratory produced smooth ales!!.I was more than happy with the way the cask beer was cared for especially the copious amount of TETLEY'S I Consumed, with the many pubs in leeds serving different cask beers many of which I've tried it certainly takes a lot to come out on top but the SCARBOROUGH in my mind and tastebuds, has done it easily I'll definitely be trying to make up for not trying it sooner on my much anticipated future visits too leeds also allthough the place was extremely busy with football supportors the barstaff dealt with their job with a smile working quickly and efficiently whilst...
Read moreThe Scarbrough Taps is one of Leeds' gems. Possibly my favourite! I've been going for some years now and it's one of the few places in Leeds that has moved with the times but retained its charm.
The staff are always incredibly knowledgeable about what's available. So much so that the other week one of the team had all the bottles of gin out to talk me through them before I chose (I'm not normally a gin fan so this was an education, not just an awkward customer!).
I love the place as part of a night out, as an oasis to stop at during a busy shopping trip or just somewhere to watch the world go by. I really do recommend it to locals and tourists alike. Always a warm welcome, good pub grub and plenty to choose from behind the bar. Looking forward to...
