Our first time visiting today for the lunch special, which I found excellent value for money. We were greeted and sat down, for approx 2:30/3pm on a Saturday, it was quite busy and only one staff member appeared to be serving. Our food took a while, but that was ok, it was lovely, though the sides were luke warm, I didn't say anything as there was noone to tell. Our original server was good, though very busy, however he went on a break and we had another server, who randomly had to bring a manager over when I wanted to pay the bill with a gift card. She then came over and asked what I needed and when I said, just the bill, she seemed surprised, it was an odd exchange and when I paid, said "that's it" and walked away. Small gripes, it said dress code etc, but people were in shorts, joggers, t -shirts & trainers, didn't seem all that "dress to impress" but it was a Saturday afternoon, perhaps a bit more casual(?) They also asked online if it was a special occasion, it was and I'd written as such, yet literally nothing was mentioned? Found it strange, why ask and then do nothing? The creme brulee, was the best I'd ever had, was just delicious, along with the Mac & Cheese! In Summary, we'd perhaps return to M&C for the special offer lunch menu, but wouldn't rush back for the service.

First time eating at Miller & Carter. We were seated quickly on entering the restaurant and drinks order taken immediately. We opted for the 3 courses lunch time offer @ £15.95. Starters were cheddar mushrooms & the calamari, both arrived after about 7 minutes, they were delicious and generous portions of both. For mains i chose the steak burger with upgrade added cheese & bacon, my dining partners chose the rump steak with a diane sauce. The burger was one of the best I've ever tasted and was clearly made from minced steak as it was full of flavour and rendered fat, the steaks were melt in the mouth and cooked perfectly. I had an apple pie with custard and sadly it did appear that the pie was microwaved for speed as the pastry was just a bit too soggy however it tasted ok so i can forgive that. Bill with 3 drinks was about £65. Service was absolutely fantastic, our server Megan was very attentive and polite. Will definitely revisit again to try items off the main menu.

Went to celebrate our wedding anniversary, having seen good reviews online. Despite having to ask to swap tables, as we were initially seated in a confined space in what appeared to be a corridor opposite the kitchen, the evening from then on was superb. Our waitress, Isabel, was lovely and our first surprise was a couple of glasses of a very nice Prosecco as an anniversary gesture. Service was very good and the food (we had the Chateaubriand) was excellent. Along with our delicious desserts (banoffee pie and ice cream trio) we had another lovely surprise when Isabel produced 'Happy Anniversary' piped in chocolate with strawberries on a plate. A very nice touch and much appreciated. The atmosphere and surroundings were very relaxing. We had no hesitation in ringing the bell on our way out, to compliment the kitchen staff. Again, a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend.

Quite expensive family lunch that didn't feel like good value or quality. We were a group with around 10 of us. It was a special occasion at what was one of our favourite restaurants as a family. We have been there numerous times and had a much better experience up to this point.

Not the best for a hot day, which probably affected food and service. No air con, just one small Argos style tower fan about 2m.from the table . There wernt many tables in, but we were sat in the conservatory area near the front which felt like the hottest part of the building.

Main table waitress was good, she was polite and knowledgeable. Bit confusing though when mains were brought to the table by 3-4 waiting staff, with a mix of some people's food being referred to as numbers, some peoples came with the waiter asking who ordered specific dishes. Felt quite confusing for us and the waiting staff who had a couple of 'put down pick ups' as we hear them saying that person is number 2 and not 4 etc. It did result in one of the kids meals being mixed with an adults on the other end of the table. It wasn't until the end of the meal that this was noticed. When this was mentioned during the clearing of the table, a slightly annoyed waiter just said you should have said earlier, and then turned away to keep clearing other plates. Not great customer service, especially when the food wasn't at the same standard as what we've had before there.

The waiters only checked on 1 couples meals during mains. This mix up on food could have been caught potentially by the waiters if they checked everyone in the group rather than just one couple on the table.

9oz Rump steak felt like a poor cut for the price, very thin and flat. Felt overcooked probably due to it being quite thin.

Not sure if we'd try this again to be honest. But in the past has been much better than...

My experience started a few weeks ago, visited as a walk in at around 6pm after seeing full availability every 15 minutes online. Turned up and waited close to 10 minutes before somebody approached us which seemed to be a manager of some sort, then was told they’re only accepting booked customers because “we don’t have many staff”. I could see that the dining area was barely even at half capacity.

My question is that if I had booked online for 15 minutes later, which I could have. They would have seated us? Makes no difference does it? We then decided to go to the venue in Leeds city centre, where we walked in no fuss, seated instantly and drinks and order taken within 10 minutes, food arrived about 20 minutes later. Service was incredible, we left a 5 star review and tipped more than we usually would.

So last night, we decided to try Horsforth again. Booked online for 19:15 there was full availability. Arrived and got seated quickly in the corridor area next to the kitchen which wasn’t very pleasant when the main area had a lot of tables for 2 and would be easier for the waiting staff to service.

Our server seemed to either dislike us or just isn’t very suited to this role as lacked any sort of enthusiasm or interest. Drinks order taken and arrived after about 15 minutes, food order taken at 19:30, we then had zero interaction with our server until the bill. After around an hours wait, for a steak and a burger, drinks glass was empty for a solid 40 minutes until the manager brought our food. Zero apologies for the long wait and not a courtesy “sorry your food is taking a bit longer than usual”.

Disgraceful experience and I’m shocked at just how different your venues can operate? This is not the level of service you expect for the prices and...

Poor service. We were ignored at the bar by 3 staff for about 6 minutes. They were busy preparing drinks for the tables but nobody had the courtesy to say 'be with you in a minute. We were escorted to the table without having been served at the bar. Our drinks order was taken reasonably promptly and delivered but it was another 15 minutes before our food order was taken and 35 minutes after that that the food arrived, almost exactly 1 hour after we walked in the door. The food was acceptable but my sea bass was thin and a bit miserable. My friends lamb was cooked well, nice and pink, but not succulent. I presume either not a quality cut or frozen at some point. These dishes were not good value at over £20 each. Finally our waitress was twice not available when we needed services for dessert having sat down at a nearby table folding napkins. Bizarrely when I asked for a cheese course from another waitress she said she couldn't take the order she would have to get our nominated waitress..for one simple request! And again when I asked for the bill from the Front of house man he had to fetch her. In addition when I politely complained to the Front of house guy about the rude bar staff he didn't acknowledge my complaint but breezily ushered us to our table. Likewise when I explained to our waitress (Jai?) why we would not be adding service she effectively shrugged her shoulders. There was certainly no apology. It was a poor experience and poor...
