Popeyes Louisiana Chicken — Restaurant in Leeds

Updated review. After initially going to this place several times over the past year it started off great and well. Gave if 5 stars. Nowadays it's mediocre!

There were more than just one vegan or vege option. Chicken always seems to be good. Sandwiches are inconsistent. Quite often sloppy and tasteless. No seasoning etc. The fries said to be large are tiny and not even the size of a regular portion of fries at most fast food outlets. The service is usually ok and good is always hot.

However recently I have had several orders go wrong and not complete only to find out after I got home. On last visit just asking the server to wait whilst I checked my order got their back up, got given dirty looks simply for ensuring then have not messed up my order.

Got home to find soggy tasteless sandwiches. No decent sauce. It's tasteless. Apparently the chicken was ok (wife), but also agreed the fries were tiny and NOT LARGE AT ALL. THEY ARE THE SIZE OF A KIDS CLUB SMALL FRIES YOU GET AT MCDONALDS OR BURGER KING!!! ACTUALLY THE LATTER TWO ARE PROBABLY BIGGER!!!

Not at all happy and will reconsider going here anymore.

It seems they opened up to a lot of fan fare and since opening and getting regular customers have just got lazy and are not bothered at all.

Finally nearly always have to wait longer than expected as despite getting my order 15min prior and me arriving and waiting they take 10-15 min to just put my food on, then make excuses why it's so complicated to cook a vegan or vege meal and that will take another 7-10min. For it to take 30min in total wait time. Add on 30 min car journey back and forth. I might as well have ordered a deliveroo or uber eats.

Waste a lot of time! Defeats the concept...

The food quality is excellent here, both breakfast and evening, usually good offers in general and app offers. I don't see how the other local fast food chains can compete.

The staff are good, the female staff are especially good. They always have a nice friendly attitude. The interior of the restaurant is pleasant and the music is cool. The toilets clean and tissues are available. Wet wipes would be nice.

The only problems are that the drive thru menu pages change way to fast making it hard to know what to order, and the items can take a while if it's busy. The names of the items are also confusing.

And no shrimp options or fish sandwich like USA Popeye's is silly. If you give UK the biscuits then also give us the fish. The gravy ain't as good as it's competitor from Kentucky, but most things are better at Popeye's.

They also need more iconic names for each specific item cos I end up saying "can I have the breakfast muffin thing" but there's several variations of breakfast sandwich and wrap. But the names are generic and confusing. And charging extra for Cajun hash brown is unnecessary.

The app can sometimes play up. You have to be careful and go slow with the app. And it isn't made clear if hot drinks are available. Should get one or two sauces for free or atleast only charge 50p per sauce.

But essentially this place is pretty good and has been steadily improving since opening. Much better than when it was Leon. The manager appears to be pro active and his staff seem happy, so that's...

I had high hopes for this Popeyes location, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to expectations. While the restaurant itself is clean, well-presented, and in a great spot surrounded by other food places and entertainment options like a cinema, the food was a major letdown.

On the plus side, the staff were friendly, polite, and efficient—my order was ready quickly. However, the quality of the food just wasn’t there. I ordered the 3 wings and 3 tenders box with fries, and while the wings were passable, the fries were bland and completely lacking flavour. The tenders were the biggest disappointment—so crumbly that they felt uncomfortable to eat, breaking apart in a way that made them unpleasant.

To top it off, the pricing here is just too high for what you’re getting. There are plenty of other fast food options nearby that offer better quality and value for money. Sadly, between the overpriced menu and underwhelming food, I wouldn’t recommend this location and won’t be returning...
