Caffè Nero is genuinely one of my favourite spots, so I was really disappointed by the experience I had at this particular location—it was, quite honestly, abysmal.
Although the coffee and food were up to the usual standard, the service and overall atmosphere were cold and unwelcoming. I stood in line and watched other customers being served quickly and politely, but when it came to my turn, the tone completely shifted. The server’s body language and attitude felt dismissive and uninterested from the outset.
I was left awkwardly standing at the till for exactly five minutes while both staff members walked around the store, neither acknowledging me nor giving any indication of what was going on. There was no “one moment please,” no eye contact, nothing. It was as though I was invisible. When someone finally returned to take my order, they only listened to part of it before abruptly walking away, leaving me mid-sentence.
The whole interaction felt off—impersonal, unprofessional, and frankly alienating. As a visibly Muslim woman, it’s difficult not to feel that there was something more to the lack of basic courtesy. I shouldn’t have to question whether I’m being treated differently because of how I look or what I wear, yet that’s exactly how it felt.
I left feeling uncomfortable, disrespected, and disappointed—especially from a brand that usually prides itself on being inclusive and customer-focused. I sincerely hope this isn’t reflective of the company culture and that staff are reminded of the importance of treating every customer with equal respect, warmth, and...
Read moreI recently completed a click & collect order at the Leeds Birstall branch and was thoroughly disappointed with the service provided. I placed the order via the App at 10.40 and the App provided a collection time of 10.47. I went into the branch at 10.47 and could not see my order. After five minutes I approached the counter only to be abruptly told it wasn’t ready and it just gets put into the queue with all the other orders. This was quite a surprise as at this point multiple customers had come in after me, been served and had sat down with their orders. This also isn’t how it operates at other branches and basically negates any benefit of pre-ordering via the App. Luckily another member of staff overheard this conversation and corrected the first member of staff I spoke to saying it was ready but was still behind their counter (which I obviously couldn’t access or even see) - otherwise who knows when I would have received my order. The staff clearly have no sense of organisation or customer service skills considering the manner in which I was spoken to. By the time I was given my order, the coffee I had ordered was lukewarm. At this point I was so frustrated I cut my losses and just took my order. I certainly won’t be returning to...
