Obviously it's a premier in which is a budget hotel so the 5 stars is bearing that in mind which is fair enough. The hotel met all our expectations and we had a lovely overnight stay on the way to a wedding. The main expectations that we find important were met. The room was wonderfully clean and well furnished. The staff were lovely and polite. The breakfasts were the standard offer of premier inns but everything was to a high standard with cooked breakfasts cooked to order. The noise was minimal, which isn't always a problem that a hotel can control if there is a large party. However in this case the walls and doors are well sound proofed. I've stayed at hotels like this where the doors are old and thin, these aren't. It was quite hot when we started but a fan for the room was supplied and the window opened adequately to allow it to be cool enough. An alternative sheet was provided for the bed, if we wanted, to allow for the warm weather. Therefore everything was done to help with the heat and that allowed us to have a decent a night's sleep. There are no real views to speak of at this hotel but that isn't their fault and more importantly what you do see when you look out is clean. We had an evening meal and it was standard Brewer's Fare but cooked nicely. I would certainly stay here again, for the price it was an excellent experience. There is a slight point of historic interest on that the chimney of the old brick factory which existed on the site before the hotel still exists. If history of brick factories or chimneys is not your thing it does serve as a good landmark when you are looking...

About 4 miles out of the city, which took us about 20 minutes. Quiet location and so much cheaper than city centre. Large free car park too.
Lovely friendly staff. Lovely chap with a beard, sorry I didn't catch his name. He was in the restaurant in the evening and then served us our breakfast in the morning. We had a meal in the restaurant in the evening and this was ok, not great. We had a steak and salad and although the steak was cooked beautifully, the salad was a little limp around the edges, especially the slices of avocado. Breakfast was great. We went down around 8.30am and it was relatively quiet. Good selection of continental, coffee/tea and toast etc. Hot food was well cooked and very tasty.
We stayed in a room on the upper floor. Nice and quiet, although the corridor floorboards do creak a bit 😀. Bedroom was clean and just what you'd expect from a premier inn, but this too was again, a little rough around the edges. Only one of the bedside USB chargers worked, the other side was snapped off inside. My daughter had to charge her phone at the desk. The air conditioning didn't seem to work either and we found it a little warm overnight, even with the window open, although there was a desk fan in the room. Part of the bannister finials missing in the stairwell and this is being held together with hazard tape.
I stay in premier inns every time I go away in Britain and although I enjoyed my stay, it's not quite up to their...
Read moregood parking and free, although there was a tree branch down across half the car park and after my 4x night stay it was never moved. Had to wait a while to check in as no one present and after pressing the bell took time for someone to come. I noticed that each evening around 6pm there would be no one on the reception and checking in guests would often need to go into the restaurant to seek assistance. It’s clear the staff are spread across hotel and restaurant and thin on the ground and equally not trained well. Restaurant only open to hotel guests with limited premier inn menu, clearly used to be a beefeater or brewers. They’re going to be using part of the restaurant to convert into more rooms. Evening meal was ok. had one scenario where the lemonade had gone funny and lacked syrup. They couldn’t tell why it wasn’t working and made a quick decision to just make lemonade unavailable for the evening, so I wanted a refund. I was told I couldn’t get a refund, because they don’t do refunds on the bar… so asked for a different staff member to deal with it… turns out the first staff member, who is meant to be management I think, just didn’t know how to do a refund. Breakfast is cook to order and good. If you want a good nights sleep don’t stay here. It’s clearly an old premier inn and the floorboards consistently creak, doors bang. No AC and heating works terrible. Feels like it’s a workmen’s hotel as I didn’t see any other guests. It feels like it’s...
