DONT even dream of eating here ! With a 4.1 review that is declining rapidly all of you who reads this make your own minds up ! It doesnât need me to show you how poor this place is to be fair I also have the FOOTAGE Please see the BILL that amounted to a grand total of 10 pounds ! Why ? Please read on this is the embarrassing situation that was only tried to be resolved with a call with a VERY RUDE and obnoxious GM of the hotel a Mr Stephen Kershaw (who was asked to call me by the MD of the hospitality management company on balance this chap Richard ellison was very pleasant and handled this is a respectful manner unlike the hotels GM who thought he was trying to be arrogant with me something that doesnât wash Iâm afraid ! Uncooked food staff who arenât interested and a generally obnoxious general manager of a hotel who thinks he can hide behind a very VERY university owned hotel whoâs food is more reflective of a canteen than of a 4 star resteraunt I took some friends into the awful Convine resteraunt where do I start ? Tables that are old and not fit for purpose ? Food that isnât cooked correctly some burnt some undercooked chicken that must have been left to stew it was literally like string ! It took over 1 hour 45 mins to get served the place needs closing down and to be frank when the General Manager of the hotel was pulled up about this by myself through the MD of the management company running this hotel he was OBNOXIOUS who the hell does he think he is ? The reviews of this place speak for themselves please all read the RECENT post pandemic reviews as this is a true reflection you would be better placed at the Toby carvery down the road than a place of not so FADED grandeur trying to be something itâs not and instead of being constructive in taking criticism attempt to try and deflect the issue by saying âwe got a free mealâ how dare they ! They will learn the hard way when thereâs a downtime in people dining there AVOID at all costs also the toilets filthy in this hotel various reviews will be left at random times by many after this episode to show the hotel it needs to learn to start cleaning up its act ! They had no option but to give us a free meal as it was a disaster with no service worth of even a 1 start hotel let a lot 4 stars they must have been looking at the moon đ itself rather than the actual stars ! When rating this dive a free meal that we didnât eat ? This is ALL the GM could talk about when it was a DUTY to do this rather than they doing me a favour all they could go on about was I quote âyou got a free meal didnât you ?â Er âyes that we didnât eat ! â in reality I should have pressed for compensation off them as this was a meal treat for a cancer patient in my party suffering with TERMINAL cancel but of course they didnât care about that ! In this era of money and âwell we have had many people on that day and no complaints â the manger seemed more interested in legal challenges than cleaning up the act of a FILTHY establishment where the staff donât clearly care about how long it takes to service people a CLEAR common them among lots a lot of the reviews both here Tripadvisor and fork plus many many more after this managers should offer apologies to its customers rather than legal challenges that the CANNOT substanciate as they would take years and be quashed by photographic evidence ! And VIDEO footage which demonstrates the moot points discussed here and something everyone who dines there needs to be aware of BEFORE choosing this place ! Responses that arenât constructive are a reflection of the manner in which things are dealt with here we were affected by the poor service ! So to try and make out any of my party are at fault here wonât be accepted if we were at fault thereâs No way a bill of almost nothing would have been produced Iâll leave it go to the people to decide who is at fault as my party and others are more than happy to come forward to stipulate the opposite of the hotels claims...

If you want to learn how to run a restaurant, you really ought to visit this place....it's the stereotypical 'Faulty Towers' establishment. The bar is the 1st place you come to when entering the restaurant. Firstly, the barman (an older asian chap), just a matter of fact took our drinks order, NO smile, no pleasantries.....we felt like an inconvenience to him; not a positive 1st impression. I ordered a whisky and I was told to go to another bar to decide what I wanted and let him know. The interior is more akin to a cafe/canteen...quite a mismatch in terms of style and layout. Then is was virtually empty, yet when its 19 degrees outside the a/c was blowing cold air. We pointed this out and the waiter did say he would turn it down, but having been sat in the middle of an empty room, we asked to be moved to a booth (which had to cleared.cleaned before we could). It's quite apparent his place does not have a management structure as everyone was doing everyone's else's job and visa vera. I felt for some of the staff whom I suspect will and would be blamed for any mishaps when the issue is not them but the management! Despite being we quiet we had to flag someone for attention when we required service, yet at other times we were 'pestered'. We waited an hour between the starter and the main course as they had forgot to take our order....(hmm, little or no customers). The starters were uneventful and unmemorable....1x soup was virtually left untouched (how can one go wrong with soup). he main course, was swimming in a watery gravy, and the veg (too much) served in side dishes, was akin to what would be served at a school dinner hall (40 years ago)......needless to say, tasteless. The deserts were not bad, better than the rest and appreciated more-so, only because it was better than the previous courses. Admittedly we went on a voucher so paid a fraction of the price, however had we paid FULL price an argument would have ensued. BTW: Extortionate prices charged for the drinks. Sadly, because the meal was discounted this is one of these places where they re-coupe their margin by charging substutiionally more for drinks ie. ÂŁ19 for a large Dewars whisky, ÂŁ22 for a 70cl in the shops.
Was it worth the money?......NO (even at the discounted price). Would I recommend it? NO. Is it memorable? YES, but for the wrong reasons. Save your money and go elsewhere? YES.
The litmus test, 'would we go again?" A...
