The location is great but the door staff really let this please down. Twice I have visited and both times had awful experiences with intimidating door staff. It was my birthday yesterday and a group of us were all sat together near to the front door. My friend ordered us shots so we all had one and then the bouncer came running over, pointed at me and said if you do that again I'm kicking you out! I asked what he meant, as all I had done was have a shot with my friends and he just got angrier and said do it again and you are out! He was very intense and intimidating and none of us had any idea what he was referring to. He then said we were all getting kicked out and we should finish our drinks but again there was no reason for this. We asked a different door staff member why we were being kicked out and he said he was very sorry and didn't know the reason either as we had been absolutely fine. Also, my friend bought me a birthday cake the bouncer took it off her at the door. I understand a no outside food policy, but is it policy to confiscate a small birthday cake?? Everyone felt uncomfortable with the door staffs behaviour on the night so we ended up leaving instead of ordering our last drinks. We won't be going again, lots of complaints from customers about the door staff. Even taxi drivers have said the door staff are rude and argumentative at this...

Very clean and welcoming, and another of the stunning buildings that Wetherspoons have acquired. The value for money aspect of their menus is almost impossible to beat, but the downside is that as a customer, you have very little interaction with the staff!! We did however have a point of complaint with this particular establishment, as a drink ordered by accident was changed (and it’s replacement paid for) after being told we couldn’t remove it from the premises as it had been opened?? one of our party of four decided that rather than waste it, they would have it, so returned immediately to the bar, only to be told that it had been disposed of!! Most annoying!! However, that aside, our meals were cooked to order, and delivered very quickly. The staff were polite and friendly, and this particular building had the smartest, cleanest toilets I have ever seen in a restaurant!!

P.S. As a word of warning, I returned home last night to find I had been fined for using the car park to the rear of the property. This is not well signposted, and I don’t believe I have parked illegally. I will be taking this up with management, as it is...

Awful experience. I went with three other people at around 10am and the place was almost empty. We instantly ordered the food and drinks and that's when it went down hill. Two people within my group ordered a refillable hot drink, went to make them and the place had ran out of milk... we then had to wait 20 minutes for a member of staff to go buy some at the shop. This incident was repeated 3 times whilst we were there. As for the food, awful. We waited over an hour for 4 large breakfasts even though there wasn't that many people in. I would've have been fine with this because I know it would've been cooked fresh and taken longer. However, all for meals came out cold and by the time someone had come over for us to complain, we had eaten some of it becaus we were so hungry from waiting over an hour. Once we had complained, we were told that we weren't allowed a refund but they could over us a free drink or side. A couple of people in the group ordered a side of beans. THESE CAME OUT FREEZING COLD. Absolutely disgusting service from the staff and makes me not want to go back to any wetherspoons. Dreadful,...

All the staff are first class. It was my first meal in a Wetherspoons and I was pleasantly surprised. As usual an excellent array of drinks. Outdoor seating and a car park. Fascinating building, here's the history...The Golden Beam is a pub and Grade II listed building located in the Headingley area of Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. It was built in c. 1912 for the Church of Christ, Scientist, and was known as the Elinor Lupton Centre from 1986 to 2010 when it was a school arts centre. It was designed by Piet de Jong and William Peel Schofield from the architectural firm Schofield and Berry. Constructed in white Portland stone in a mixed style of Egyptian Revival and Art Deco, it was originally built as a Sunday school in c. 1912–1914, extended in the 1930s with a church building and then used by the Leeds Girls' High School as a theatre and music centre from 1986 until 2010. The structure has architectural significance in the locality due to its distinct style and use of materials; many original features and fittings survive, including the entrance foyer, two staircases and a glazed lantern in the auditorium roof.

On 12/03/2024 at 22:34 me and my partner entered and sat upstairs. We were not told that they had stopped serving drinks or food and as it is easier for us we decided to order on the Wetherspoons app. I ordered a Smirnoff vodka and pipeline punch monster pitcher for the two of us. Shortly after a worker came up to us and told us they had stopped serving drinks and food and that I should receive a refund however I still have not received that refund. Before we left we tried asking a worker about the refund and she said the tills were off and would be put back on in the morning. No one said if we would have to come back and ask for the refund or if it would come back into my account automatically, the second worker was quite impatient and eager for us to leave so we did without really understanding what we’d have to do for this refund. I therefore tried contacting customer service and have not heard back from them either. This has been a very disappointing experience for me as I frequent Wetherspoons quite a bit with friends and this has really dampened my overall love of the brand.

This is a large Wetherspoons over 2 floors, (originally it was a church). We usually spend about £45 for 3 people, including meals and alcoholic drinks. You can mostly get a table unless there is cricket or rugby at Headingley Stadium pre-match. Food is usually good. It is in the middle of a student area. My only criticism is beer ordered with the app from the table. I drink Shipyard. Sometimes, when my pint comes I get the impression that it is not straight from the pump but may have been topped up from the overflow from other beers. All pubs always have a glass of overflow beer under the counter and do practice this "topping up". More so with table service. Now I never order beer through the app. I always go to the bar for my beer. All in all I would recommend going here. Lots of street parking.
