I sent my female companion into the fish and chip shop tonight. This is what she told me quite upset. She was asked the order in the que.She asked for a large fish sneak chips with mushy peas and battered sausage.the man said so you want a special? She asked whats that? He said a large fish. So being pedantic and no difference, just being awkward in front on everyone and she has social anxiety. When she got to the counter she had to reorder anyway. she had to step a bit closer as hard of hearing and the yiubgvwomwn kept closing rhr screen in her dave rudely even though wearing a mask. She had ordered one large dish a special, with chips and scraps. One battered sausage with peas. The young man behind the counter was incredibly rude. He has asked what dhips regular or ? She said what's the other ? He said large. she pressumed that would come with the special anyway. He then proceeded to start wrapping the food. She asked for salt and vinegar.. he said he already had yet then proceeded. If he had then why do again ? He lashes on loads of vinegar . She said thats too much and it's not for her. Too much and he put even more on after. He was rudely remarking and grinning. She also asked for forks none where given. There where boxes and they wrapped them in paper. Seems everyone else got boxes. Couldnt believe there where no forks. The young women and male where both rude. The gentle man seemed nice after that apologising and saying it hard to hear. Yeah well that's why my lady stepped forward. Was ok for then but not for her when she's hard of hearing ?and been at work all day. They where alsonrhen rude about the pop. She asked doe teonxand and said please ans thank you. All the food was for me and the one pop for her. Id she wanted teo chips would have asked for meals and argued with her when she said she asked for one chips. She did her best. In the rudeness she had forgotten the mushy peas yet if they had remembered the order like a usual restaurant would have and hadn't have been rude with her and flustered her, I would have got them. Also battered sausage way over battered.fish was ok though. Also no salt on the chips what so ever! He redid them and no salt this time and no vinegar. So I think they where rude and spiteful. First time there never coming back. Hee loxal and she's embarrassed.also she had some eerie worh her dad and no issue as aware so must have been different staff. I'm a working lad with oil grease hands and had to eat it without forks as we had driven away without realising. All in all not very good service and in this time if pandemic as int rocket science expect far better service. Man in end was nice just trying to be clear and apologise. Ones behind till need some work...
Read moreI went in last Thurs 10th April about 8pm and it was confirmed at the counter they do gluten-free and that it was a separate fryer, the fish and chips where lovely but 2 days later my symptoms started and there must have been some cross contamination. Its a shame, they are obviously offering this as a service but just not taking it seriously enough and the consequences of even the slightest of cross contamination and the impact it can have. A great place for very nice fish and chips and very reasonably priced but if you can't eat gluten they can't be trusted and they should not be offering this service if they aren't going to take it with the seriousness it needs. I DONT AGREE WITH YOUR REPLY, INFACT ITS AN INSULT. WE ALL HAVE A DIFFERENT CYCLE WHEN THINGS TAKE AFFECT AND I KNOW MY OWN BODY AND MY CYCLE IS 1.5 TO 2 DAYS AFTER. AGAIN I TAKE INSULT TO YOUR DISAGREEMENT THAT IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN ANOTHER INSIDENT, BASICALLY SAYING I MIGHT BE WRONG. YOUR STAFF MADE A MISTAKE, IT COULD HAVE BEEN SOMTHING SIMPLE LIKE USING THE SAME TONGS OR SOMTHING THAT WAS GLUTEN COULD HAVE BEEN COOKED IN THAT OIL, BUT I CAN ASSURE YOU IT HAPPENED HERE, I HAVE A VERY STRICT DIET AND DO NOT DEVIATE AND I KNOW MY CYCLE THROUGH EXPERIENCE, SO I WOULD JUST TAKE IT YOU FELL SHORT ON THIS OCCASION AND LOOK TO IMPLEMENT STRICTER MEASURES...
Read moreWell what can i say!? I stopped going to this chip shop about 5 years ago after a bad experience with the quality of the food. After really craving fish and chips on a Sunday evening and realising no other chip shops were open, i decide to give the Skyliner another go. I really wish i hadnt spent my money and cooked myself something from scratch! The shop is always busy and seems to be run by kids up front. After asking for two specials, chips, curry and breadcakes and waiting paitently for 20 minutes, the young girl serving asked for my order. Watching, she wrongly place my fish on the wrong paper and proceeded to use her hands rather than grease proof paper to move it around. On getting my meal home, i discover that the fish was that so over done that i had only burnt batter and the equivalent of a fish finger worth of fish! If there were an option to post a pic, i would! Exactly the same reason i stopped going here. When i ask for a buttered breadcake...i expect butter in it and not just a 5p size piece in the middle. The curry sauce was watery. However the chips were lovely and hot! I suppose thats something. Would i go back? Maybe in another 5 years when my anger and dissapointment has subsided. How they have won awards i'll...
