The Pub is next to, but not part of the Premier Inn where we stayed for 4 nights. It is a Ember Inns Pub with good Pub food at reasonable prices. Only problem one evening was ordered food at 7:15 and eventually served at 8:40. Later we learned that one of the Chefs has not turned up for shift, despite knowing this the staff didn’t let us know the delay that absence was causing!

Now on a positive note.

Beers (hand pull bitters) are kept really well, pipes obviously clean because a free house choice of many beers was good and each delivered in taste and clarity. Brilliantly dispensed with knowledgeable staff to tell you what to expect from each offering.

Name to really look out for is the vivacious and delightfully pleasant Zoe. She is polite, charming, chatty, cheerful and a delight to meet. Her love for her work at the Brown Cow is clear and infectious.

Management at Ember Inns..... She is the talent you need to nurture through the business. An absolute natural at meet and greet, and train her please as a management trainee. She will absorb, learn and deliver all, and more than most.

You may guess that I liked the pub, think that a member of staff is just what the company needs to keep pubs open, and finally.... a great place to eat too!!

Ember Inns. Support this team, they will all...

Booked a couple of tables for the grand covid Reopening on the 17th May 2021 and glad we did.

Our long delayed company doo from 2020 and one of the lads birthday we celebrated.

Gemma & the staff were awesome, the pub was clean, tidy, friendly staff and the food was delicious.😋

The starters options were brilliant, so much choice, nachos, prawn cocktails, the list is endless. The mains were awesome and the burgers were to die for.

Presentation, quantity of food was all 5 stars and the staff attention to detail, on hand requests was something to be admired as they worked hard making sure everybody was well catered for.

Everything Covid wise was adhered to in these challenging times, tables all cleaned, masks, a safe reassuring confidence instilled by Gemma & her hardworking team.

We all had a great night & Kyle loved his free birthday drink from Gemma and his extra extra special multi coloured desert 😉

We will be booking our Xmas do this year in advance and keeping it local to our Brown Cow in Whitkirk along with other company functions and individual bookings.

If you are looking at booking a place for a meal for two or a family, or even a party we recommend the Brown Cow, they made our...

We didn't have a great visit. We booked for my mums birthday 6 of us. I ordered for myself and my mum and my brother ordered immediately after for him and he's family. Mine and my mums meals were brought out 15 minutes before the others so by time they got their meal we have finished. It would of been nice for us to all eat together. My sister in law ordered the steak pie which said it come with roasted carrots but we wasn't told at the time of ordering that there was no veg but peas. We waited a while for my brother and family's food and about 5 minutes after finishing our food, someone come to the table and asked how long we would be as they had another reservation. We didn't even have time to decide if we wanted dessert. It wasn't our fault we waited so long for our mains that our table time had ended. We got up to leave and the same person what asked us then said " are you leaving" so I replied well yes you said you needed the table. He then looked guilty and said I've sorted it you don't have to leave but by this stage we had all got our coats on and ready to go. Such a shame it was a bad experience because I have come before and it was pleasant and this is why I chose to come here for my...

So the food was lack lustre and the service was simply overwhelmed. Felt sorry for the ladies, we hoofed our food down and three courses took a mere 2 hours and 5 minutes. The food was a boil in the bag special, not bad but not that good either, kinda like a pub stuck in 1980. Realised the stuffing was missing and had run out of beef and pork. The server kindly gave us a drink foc, to apologise for the delay. I know you are a massive chain and staff shortages are a thing, but seriously under staffing your service, means staff are angry, untipped and unhappy. Not to mention customers. I would be happy to pay a little more for a little more.

Waited over a hour for our meal and we wasn't the only ones in the pub who was waiting as well. When I asked where it is, the saying "it's on its way" got used a lot. Then when it arrived the sausages were burnt to a crisp. And the steak wasn't medium how I asked. However for me to then complain for them to say we will get you another after waiting over a hour made me not bother as I was very hungry and I didn't want to wait another hour for some burnt sausages. Not even a sorry for your wait or an explanation. And the food is expensive I wouldn't of minded if it was a little cheap restaurant. But £13 for a mixed grill......

We walked to this pub for a light lunch. We were going to sit outside in one of their lovely huts, but after my husband went inside to buy drinks, they invited us and our small dog inside as it was a bit chilly outside. We ordered lunch at the bar and then there was a power outage which resulted in no gas for cooking in the kitchen. The staff were brilliant and apologetic, so we amended our food order to suit the available facilities. I had chicken wings and salad and crisps, as no chips were possible and my husband had nachos. The food was excellent, the staff were lovely and we will definitely return. Thanks
