TBH I have only ticked the one star 🌟 rating due to allowing me to rate this experience, and to be fair I'm focusing on the food side of the evening, food was order over the app, three different orders were place within 5 minutes due to poor reception. After 50 minutes 3 of the 5 meals came out with a reference to the remaining being plated up and would be out shortly. After 20 minutes I challenged the size of the plate! I was offered a free pint with the promise that the meals would be out.... After a further 15 minutes and ample of other meals being served to other customers I went to see what was happening at which point I was offered a whole round of drinks... When the food arrived it was shocking, obviously not a chef who knew how to cook a steak! Very busy at the time of my visit which obviously was part of a supply and demand 🤔 issue, however more could and should have been rectified promptly with a fully refund, not one to complain, as the atmosphere, beer / drinks was good, I would just recommend if you want to eat here choose a quieter day and time for a more favorable...
Read moreWe gave The Devon another go because we keep getting told how amazing it is, and if you're going for a drink and a chat it is. If you are going for food, it becomes a different experience.
We waited 50 minutes for our order to arrive, and fair enough it was Fathers Day so I expected it to be busy. What I didn't expect though was my food to arrive 10 minutes after everyone else's. I got a mixed grill sizzler that wasn't sizzling at all. My partner ordered Mac and Cheese which she was told after ordering wasn't available, we was told it would be refunded, so she just had Garlic Bread which she had to send back because it came out burned to a crisp. In order to get a refund she had to mention it at the bar, it wasn't ever explained to us how the refund would be processed. My step daughter who ordered a Mac and cheese side with her meal, never got asked if she would like to swap it for something else and it wasn't eligible for a refund.
Really not impressed at all with the lack of hospitality...
Read moreThe Devon used to be one of the best places for local drinking. But since the new owner has taken over its gone down hill. Staff aren't trained well enough or there isn't enough on for the busier times. I have never had to wait more an a couple of minutes for a drink but i find myself waiting at least 5/10 minutes as the staff seem to have there favourite regulars although i have been going to the Devon for over 10 years.
On a night its full of young kinds between 18-20 where as before it was more of a diverse group of people.
Also the new landlord seems to be making up his own rules in regards to what your aloud to wear when you in the pub. Not caps at all as its a "family pub" and wearing a cap seems to be "aggressive behaviour". also no "sports wear" after 9 this is slightly confusing as there now classing bommer jackets or light rain jackets as sports wear and your not aloud in with it. This just seems...
