Visited last night on the way to Leeds airport. Had read reviews and looked up menu and thought to give it a look.
Ordered hunters chicken, cauliflower curry, a classic burger and a bacon cheese burger. Waited half an hour for food which wasn't a big deal however when it arrived we were massively underwhelmed... The hunters chicken was tiny (no bigger than the palm of my hand) and had a slice of burned bacon topping it and a slice of cheap cheese... what really annoyed me was that the sauce came on the side and not on the actual meal which is very unusual. The menu also stated that it came with mushroom however this was missing from the meal. The cauliflower curry was ok however the side salad had no dressing even though it stated on the menu it did. We received 2 of the bacon cheese burgers rather than a classic burger and a bacon burger, when we stated this to the waitress she just looked blankly at us and didn't even offer to sort it out, we ended up just taking it and picking the stuff out. We were also quite annoyed that the only thing on the plate was the burger and chips... would have expected onion rings coleslaw etc...
Would have made a complaint at the premises however didn't have time due to being on the way to the airport. Severely unimpressed!
So all in all really wouldn't reccomend, there's a beefeater down the road that we'll call into next time and avoid this place...
Read moreI've driven past this place for years and always said id give it a try, well today we finally made a visit and we're glad we did. I pre-booked a table online with ease, you don't have to pre book but as we hadn't been before i thought it would be best. It's got a reasonably sized car park at the rear and spaces at the side, all close to one of the two entrances. We wasn't sure at first if we had to wait at the door inside but once I'd said i had pre booked a table,we was taken to our seats. We were left to have a good look through the menu without being urged to order which was good and when the food came we all got a good sized meal which we all enjoyed. 3 of us ordered starters and each starter probably would have fed 2 people so bear that in mind if you've not got a big appetite. As we went at 12.30,the pub wasn't overly busy so we had quite a peaceful time. We will definitely be going again try some of the other food on offer as there is a wide selection to choose from.On the whole our first visit was a pleasant one with nice staff, decent atmosphere and very good food. If like me you've often said you'd try The Stone Trough but never actually got around to it then please do as I'm sure you won't be...
Read moreA very disappointing experience, it's been a while since we were there last and we were very impressed that time. On selecting our drinks 5 ales/beers were unavailable only John Smith's & Tetleys were to had apart from a selection of lagers. I wondered if the management were experiencing cash flow problems and hadn't paid the brewery. On ordering our food we we're told it would be approximately a 45 minute delay which seems a little extreme as it wasn't excessively busy. We got our food approximately on the hour. The order consisted of Sea Bass fillets, Steak & Ribs & 2 x Mixed Grills. The Sea Bass was dry and difficult to cut; the salad on the Steak & Ribs dish was warm, both dishes presumably had been standing too long under the warming lights before service. And, both medium rare steaks on the mixed grills were difficult to eat. As I will not be going again I will be unsubscribing from their...
