Have stayed at this Premier Inn previously....came back as the staff are all lovely. However, I won't be coming back, we booked a short break for our wedding anniversary and I am so pleased we did not book our evening meals too, although we did book the breakfast. Our first and only evening meal here was a farce....my wife ordered gammon with a jacket potato and mushy peas instead of garden peas....and poached egg instead of fried egg...her first choice of haddock was unavailable The gammon arrived with two poached eggs and was only barely cooked and the peas were as though fresh from the fridge cold. The waitress asked if the food was ok...and we asked for the gammon to be cooked for longer and to have the peas served hot....she came back with the meal that had hot peas, a different jacket potato and an extra poached egg...this egg however was underdone to the point of being raw on one half...it takes some skill to put a half raw egg onto a plate...but the gammon was not any more cooked than before...my wife queried the egg and the plate was whisked away again....when it came back, the slimy part of the undercooked egg was still on the untouched gammon and my wife was feeling quite annoyed and assured the waitress all was fine and tried to eat the jacket potato...unbelievably it too was underdone...so my wife declined to have an evening meal and we were not charged. We spent the next evening eating fish and chips in the car, incidentally it was also my wife's birthday and it spoiled our planned celebration in...
Read moreBooked for overnight stay close to airport. Where do I start? Carol on reception was great, however I do think Carol and Evie in the restaurant are basically trying their utmost best in trying to keep a ship afloat! Checking in was straightforward enough. A quick turnaround and we went to restaurant and initially thought Carol on reception had a twin! No she was also covering bar and restaurant alone until another staff member arrived ( Evie) We ordered our food and waited well over 40 mins and when some of it did arrive it was not correct. One meal arrived incomplete ..no bacon or cheese added, another meal had no chutney and one child's meal was completely overlooked! 2 adult meals did not arrive until everyone else has finished. At 8am there were signs on bar saying no pizza, calamari r coleslaw available, no lager at the bar and only bottled coke. To say a meal for 2 of us came to £35 was a bit of a joke tbh. In the midst of all of this a fire alarm in the hotel went off and everyone evacuated into the bar..poor Carol on reception really was doing her utmost to reassure everyone that it was infact a false alarm. Numerous guests were complaining and I felt so sorry especially for Carol who really was so good with guests and Evie in the bar. I do think management need to look at the staffing issues here, considering we paid almost £200 for 2 rooms for 1 night and a food bill near on £100 was such a disappointment to...
Read moreI’ve been a customer of Premier Inn now for several decades, and I have to say my once favourite and wholly reliable chain of hotels is really starting to let itself down. ||This particular branch is one that used to be a lot better, but seems to have been forgotten by Whitbread, or at least is next on the list for refurb I hope! Being next to Leeds/Bradford airport you’d have thought they’d want to keep this one up to scratch, but alas not. ||First of all the cost, this branch is now rarely sub £130 per night now, mid week, which is very much on the high side when there are several others not far away that are a fair bit less. I wouldn’t mind so much if it was fresh and pristine, but it is definitely not that. It’s worn and tired, and in need of a refresh. ||The bathroom in my room (35) is, well, filthy. The extractor vent has thick clumpy dust on it (I mean this just needs a hoover, not exactly hard!), the paint is peeling away from the walls due to damp, meaning the extractor is doing naff all anyway, the shower head itself is black from mould, and the grouting between the tiles is also black and filthy. ||At above average pricing, it needs to be better, perhaps instead of spending all this money on expanding your hotels, maybe spend some money in making your existing rooms worth the money, eh? ||That aside, staff were good, and Murgatroyds fish and chips across the road made staying here...
