Big Fish — Restaurant in Lewes

Unable to take a payment by card 😧 Later edit: perhaps the owner is mixing me up with someone else in their reply. I went to Big Fish alone, wanting one portion of fish and chips. Having specified what I wanted, it became apparent that card payments are not accepted. I confirmed that I had no ability nor desire to pay by another means, and so went elsewhere. I made no commitment to return with cash, and neither was any food wasted by the establishment. The owner might consider adding a notice on the front of the shop about payment methods, to avoid future misunderstandings, particularly for visitors to the town such as myself. I support the owner's right to take payments in whatever methods they prefer, but this needs to be clear to customers...

I have never been able to shake the nagging feeling that sushi could be improved solely by the addition of one thing, chips. Thank god I no longer have to wonder as Alex and Lilly have bravely answered the age old question: what if a sushi restaurant was also a chippy. Extremely happy to have found this unlikely yet superb establishment. Not only can it's sushi compare with the best restaurant fare but it's an honest to god proper chippy as well, down to the pickled eggs. Popped in Big Fish for the first time last night, had not had fish and chips for a long time and had a real ’hankering’. Was not sure what to expect but wanted to give it a try. So glad I did, was very, very good. Chips were great but the fish was fantastic. Crispy batter, that was not too thick, and a great sized piece of haddock. Big pots of curry sauce and mushy peas! They do have a bit of an identity crisis if you look at all of the different types of food that they sell but this experience has just made me want to try more of the menu.
