What a beautiful and romantic spot in the heart of Lewes. Lewes Bill’s was the very first of many Bill’s restaurants opened in 2001. A few years later the Brighton branch followed and from there in 2010 Reading, Covent Garden, Cambridge and many more. I promised to my wife a Bill’s breakfast in Lewes and we went there from London. We had a typical British weather all day long. It didn’t stop raining even for a minute. We didn’t book a table but Charlotte, the manager, gave us a table always with a beautiful smile and the best aim to help. I ordered the super famous Bill’s breakfast (brunch option as we arrived after 11:30) and my wife ordered the spectacular Bill’s pancakes with syrup. Just simple food but beautifully prepared with very fresh ingredients. We also had the pleasure of being served by Daniel, another manager, also with the most friendly and helpful attitude you could expect. All the staff who came to our table to bring food, double check our meals and clear the table looked really happy, friendly and attentive. It was a fantastic time remembering all days in Lewes more than 15 years ago and Bill’s still having the same soul. Many thanks for your amazing service and looking forward to visit you again in the future.

Decided to drive to Lewes with my girlfriend yesterday and we stopped at Bill's for lunch. I had not been there for years and had good memories overall from the Brighton venue. We waited 5 minutes as it is always busy and then got seated, placed our order for starters and mains, so far so good. They sort of forgot to bring the starters and brought everything pretty much together which we were fine with. I mean, the place is packed and those things happen. Now we were seated near by the open kitchen and l could clearly see the pass and as a former chef l enjoy looking at the chef putting the dishes on there ready to be picked up by the waitresses and waiters. When they brought our starters, l noticed the chef putting my Mojo chicken skewers on the pass and was delighted to see it was ready. I then saw a waitress in a red top removing 2 skewers from the plate and then putting them in another plate at the end of the pass. As a chef, l know well that the plate at the end which had a paper towel in it is for the unwanted item or things that come back, usually staff gets to eat that. Anyway, it didn't bother me at that point. It is when they brought me the dish which had 3 small chicken skewers, a tortilla, a bit of lettuce and a piece of cucumber. I mean the 3 skewers did not even add up to the size of a chicken breast. It was ridiculous that someone would present this to a customer who paid £11,95 for this thing. Your local Kebab shop will do a much better job for less money. I was just baffled and had to refuse the dish. It is the first time of my life l actually had to refuse a dish in a restaurant. The waitress did a great job into trying to explain to me that she probably removed the skewers because the chef always makes extra and they then take some out of the plates... She offered me to select another dish, however, it literally cut my appetite and just asked then to cancel it, I just didn't want it. So overall, l would say that they have good decoration, food is "ok" and service is good. Although, the sweet potatoes fries were dry, the ham under the poached eggs was dry and tasteless and they put the piece of bread on top of the humus as if it was just dropped in it. Personally, l now see it as a fancy Wetherspoons basically. Unlikely to go back.

Great Full English Breakfast - but could eat two! On a Sunday morning, there's nothing to beat a Full English and Bill's in Lewes is a good place to head. The cafe is lively and the theme very rustic and colourful. My only concern is the authentic feel to Bill's has become too polished and you just need to look at the size of the portions to know there's some out the back with a set of scales and tweezers to count the baked beans! Only four stars from me as there's scope for improvement - the feels of authenticity.

My wife and I love Bill’s and enjoyed a brilliant breakfast at the Lewes branch the morning after a wedding. Service was incredibly friendly and efficient, to the extent our food arrived before our drinks (which didn’t take long at all), but everything was still piping hot and perfectly cooked. I ordered the traditional breakfast and my wife had the halloumi, eggs & roast tomatoes. We had two delicious juices on the side, plus hot drinks. It was great value for just under £40 (including the 12.5% service charge).

First time ever going to Bill’s I have an allergy and most times I don’t mention it because I’ve been refused service in other establishments, but Kayleigh was so great and didn’t make a fuss about it which made me feel reassured. She was very polite and she was handling her section of the restaurant very well! Based off the way we was treated and the absolute amazing burger we would deffo be coming back. Thank you.
