I visited the Cornish Bakery in Lewes yesterday, and it left a wonderful impression on me. Initially, I ordered only a tea with lemon, intending to enjoy a simple moment of relaxation. However, shortly after, I changed my mind and decided to treat myself to one of their croissants. As I approached the counter to order a pistachio croissant, I barely had time to speak when the lovely server guessed exactly what I was about to ask for and offered me a pistachio croissant herself. It was such a delightful moment that we both laughed together, adding an unexpected warmth to my experience.

The atmosphere in the Cornish Bakery is cozy and welcoming, with a pleasant buzz of conversation and the smell of fresh pastries wafting through the air. The staff is not only efficient but also incredibly intuitive and friendly, making you feel right at home.

The pistachio croissant itself was a perfect combination of crisp pastry layers and a rich, nutty filling that paired beautifully with my tea. It was clear that they take pride in the quality of their baked goods.

Overall, my visit was a joy. From the excellent service to the delicious food, Cornish Bakery is a lovely spot to relax, unwind, and enjoy a great snack. I highly recommend it to anyone passing...

Yesterday for the second time we visited this cafe. The stand-out thing both times was that all the tables were uncleared/covered with dirty crockery/utensils- very off-putting. Last time we just walked out, but this time as we were hungry & thirsty & my husband wanted to try their Cornish pasties, being Cornish himself, we decided to stay. My husband had to clear a table for us. The pleasant girl at the counter who was serving seemed to signal to a young man at the back (she must have heard my husband say " this is a disaster area" & he came out in a very stressed manner & began clearing tables at top speed..however none of the tables were wiped & they needed it. Not hygienic.. It was an unpleasant atmosphere as the young man was clearly in a temper. Maybe he had just started a shift? It looked as if no table-clearing had been done all day. Felt sorry for him.. The pasty being medium-sized was very average & expensive for what it was, far better in Cornwall. Not a pleasant experience- come on owner/s, sort this out & at least get a member of staff to keep tables clear and clean. Won't be returning until and...

AVOID DUE TO HYGIENE ISSUES. I made an order for 2 drinks. Meanwhile, my friend went to the toilet but there was a queue due to only one toilet and the corridor leading to it stank of urine. Whilst I was awaiting our drinks, a customer asked the assistant to refill the water bowl for dogs. The customer put in on the serving surface. the assistant took it, refilled it and placed it back on the floor. She the proceeded to serve the next customer who was ordering food. She took 2 plates and continued with the order. No hand washing, no spraying the surface down. I asked for a refund for our drinks (which had still not arrived - incredibly slow service and it really was not busy) and informed the manager why we...

Lovely spacious bakery with plenty of comfortable seating. They have pastries and brioche buns. I had goats cheese and chutney in a bun and my daughter had ham hock and cheddar. Very tasty. They don’t have a huuuge range of coffee and drinks, but they have enough and they are really good. The barista took a lot of care making my white hot chocolate. He told me he didn’t think the white was as good as the milk chocolate so needed to take extra time to make it as best as he could. The milk chocolate is made from real melted chocolate.

Popped in here to grab some sort of baked good as I was feeling peckish and oh man I’m so glad I went here the apple crumble scone is heavenly and I’ve always got time for anywhere that serves an iced chocolate! Plus it’s very wheelchair accessible with step free access and lots of space between tables Had to take a point away for atmosphere as it’s a quiet time of day and they were playing the 1975 when I walked in!

I feel you get what you pay for at this bakery. Yes it's more expensive than your average bakery, but everything tastes great. The service matched the quality. And for the odd treat, you don't really need to remortgage. I'd come back to try other things. It also brings a level of sophistication to the high street.
