There are so many great cafés in our town but as we don't tend to get out until the afternoon we usually make a beeline for The Spotted Dog. We absolutely adore the Café, the staff, and the food.
There's a great range of freshly-made food ranging from breakfasts to toasties, jacket potatoes, omelettes, daily specials and a wide range of pastries and cakes. Every meal has the highest quality ingredients and there are info sheets on all their food for people with any food intolerances. I have never heard of anyone becoming ill from the food here, as I've read on a recent review. Sounds like someone undeservedly venting their spleen at a very hard-working and conscientious team.
The Café itself is a cosy, very friendly space, and a very dog-friendly space, kept impeccably clean. There has never been an issue with cleanliness regarding any of the dogs and they are always well-behaved and looked after by their owners/parents (who doesn't love a fur baby!). There is a calming, relaxed, welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
The staff are incredibly friendly, but obviously won't tolerate abuse or offensive customers - who would? - and it's such a lovely atmosphere we have rarely experienced bad customers (although sadly it seems to happen in lots of places nowadays), and in fact there is very much a "family" feel as many of the customers have become friends, and we love seeing each other there. Some have become friends on social media so we can keep in touch. We also love seeing their gorgeous doggies, even those of us who don't have doggies of our own.
Take a welcome "paws" in your busy day and we, and all the regulars, look forward to seeing and meeting new friends at The Spotted Dog Café. You might even be lucky and meet the real Spotted Dog!
Many thanks to Caroline, Kim and Sally for making great coffee, yummy food, happy memories and always making us...
Read moreThought I would try out the spotted dog cafe . Let's just say the food is underwhelming in a spectacular way , sub standard sausages that a student would use on a throwaway barbecue at a festival, bacon that really should not be called bacon, overly salted and leathery, eggs rubbery to the touch, mushrooms seen better days and baked beans which taste like a value line , all this for £9.50 . And the response from the staff , nadder, not a single thing was said that a whole breakfast was not eaten but sent back . I will not return, I don't like sub standard food nor do I tolerate indifferent customer service. I would highly recommend that you spend your hard earned money in one of the other cafes in Seaford, like Pomegranate, Harri Nats, Front Room , Bacas, Sub Station, The Lanes ,Grumpy Chef and the awesome Beth's Kitchen. And the coffee is a 4 out of 10 .
Apparently they also sell plants, maybe they should stick to selling plants and leave serving food to people who care .
I see the owner has decided to reply.
You can buy catering pack sausages and bacon from a reputable butcher which is exactly what you serve , maybe you should take a course in how to grind coffee and use of your brewing machine, because if as you claim your coffee is a good quality, you are definitely not doing it any justice in the way you serve it . And as for speaking to you on the day , I told your member of staff I was unhappy and she just shrugged her shoulders.
I am aware the front room closed a year ago , but it still beats you in value for money , quality of food and customer service, a neat trick for a closed business.
Usually I would wish a new business well but in your case I will make a exception, Seaford does not need a...
Read moreCame to this place recently on my travels and have to say that I considered delivering my opinion or not here, but I decided that I ought to do so in the end for the greater good........ So, anyone would be better off torching it down to the ground than trying to have a pleasant lunch experience with their friends there (and less risky)! Rude staff, even ruder customers - if you don't spend the week after eating there vomiting your innards up, then it's a good week! Greasy tables, endless dogs barking to their owners making it perfectly clear that they don't want to be there either! No cleaning of the areas where there have been canines after each visit, expecting everyone to be happy that their meal has been polluted by other people's dogs (when they should absolutely be scrubbing everything the second any pet leaves the area)!? Fancy dog hair on your meal anyone? Absolutely no understanding of customers with differences beyond the most basic ones that are apparent, apparently even less understanding when the customer in question still does not fit the demographic of "different" that they *allegedly "understand ". Zero stars and zero interest in any responses to my review. Just don't do it people: save yourselves before it's too late to turn...
