Costa Coffee — Restaurant in Lichfield

I am very disappointed. I visited your Costa branch in Lichfield today and ordered a decaf coconut latte. The lady behind placed the exact same order. When my drink was ready she claimed it was hers. I explained that it was my order and that we ordered the same thing. Now the problem is that I am a young black girl who was wearing a tracksuit. Your server and this customer not only talked down to me but seemed to address me as if I was dumb. The server put her hand on the drink, slid it over to the lady behind - a Middle Aged white woman and said this is her drink. She then looked at my receipt and said “oh you did order coconut milk” made my drink and said “sorry for the mix up”. I don’t know what about my appearance made me unbelievable but I am not happy. Racial nuances are something you pick up as a black person and the way I was treated was demeaning. I am a loyal Costa customer, I have the app and visit regularly. Staff need to be retrained in customer service and...

Lady with tattoos was very rude when she got my order wrong, had asked for 3 hot drinks & for two to be medium & one small. She gave 2 small & a medium instead of politely correcting our order she arrogantly said we ordered incorrectly. She got very aggressive & started slamming things as she corrected our drink to then refuse to make it whilst slamming the two drinks on the counter. Her co-worker stood silently in disbelief (i honestly felt sorry for her cos it seems like she gets this a lot) & gave us a muffin free of charge for the inconvenience. Eventually got my last drink made with a very sarcastic & bitter tone as she walked it over the counter to me. Would appreciate if staff were properly trained given the pandemic it's not like they were under any stress, the shop was completely empty so didn't understand where the attitude had come from. Manners...

This particular Costa has become my favourite place to eat and drink in Lichfield during the daytime. The staff are always lovely and welcoming, the menu is extensive, and the coffees (both hot and iced) are incredible and do the job when it comes to keeping me alert!

It's a relaxing place to sit, with plenty of tables both inside and outside, some of which are flanked by sofas and armchairs, and others by regular plastic seats. It's clean, tidy, comfortable, and surprisingly cheap.

Special shout outs to Gemma, Jemma, and the two male baristas with tattoos whose names I've forgotten because I have an awful memory. All the staff are great, though!
