What a disappointment. Visited on the 17th Dec to see The Cathedral Illuminated show and instead saw a show of mis-management by the event staff.
Upon having our tickets checked, we were placed into a large group of people with no instruction. Our entry was delayed as the staff were calling through tickets from half an hour prior. Eventually, the large group that had accumulated were given access to the cathedral grounds in something akin to a stampede. The grounds themselves were poorly lit, which made navigation difficult and I fell over a chain fence that had not been clearly signposted, it was invisible in the darkness. When meeting the event staff at the next checkpoint, we were told that an incident had held up the groups and caused a delay. We were eventually let through to watch the main show on the Cathedral, but were met with large crowds and people from the next groups cutting across the Cathedral grounds, ignoring the event staff, in order to gain access to the cathedral. We decided to leave at this point and reported our concerns to the event staff on the gate, they listened to our comments but seemed passive regarding our experience offering us tickets to go around again that night, but the large groups still lingering. When mentioning the chain link fence, I was told it would be sorted tomorrow.
We ended up missing out on the show inside of the Cathedral to much disappointment.
Overall, a dire performance and a complete disgrace to the Cathedral. The event management ruined what was meant to be a magical...
Read moreFalse doctrine and false teachings, like all Anglican, Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox churches in the West today. Judgement belongs to Jesus and vengeance to the Lord God Almighty, but where Salvation is at stake heretical practices must be highlighted. I love the stained glass windows, the angels, the sculptures, the history, the Eucharist, Choral Evensong, the Holiness, being in the presence of the one, true, Living God. Vestments, fancy dress, altars, incense, and priests belong to the old covenant, but it is important not to be divisive when it comes to secondary, non-salvific issues. Primary issues that will send you to the Lake of Fire are evident throughout Lichfield Cathedral. Blessings of unions that are detestable to God, female vicars which go against Scripture, the veneration of relics , prayers to Mary, etc. are heretical and unbiblical. Unconditional Love - where do they get this nonsense from? The world is in the church, but the church must be in the world! To walk in the liberty of the Holy Spirit is to have eternal life now along with the Communion of Saints, Martyrs, True Christians, past, present, and future. When Jesus returns to bring Salvation to those who have endured to the end, we shall see Him as He is. False prophets, false teachers and heretics will be thrown into the Lake of Fire. Nominal Christians, self-righteous Christians, the rich, cowardly, proud and ungodly of all denominations will hear: "Depart from me, I never knew you!" Come soon...
Read moreLichfield Cathedral truly is a hidden gem. Although it’s only a short drive from the M6 motorway, it’s like stepping back in time. The cathedral itself has a grandeur to it which is unlike many other, smaller, more modern cathedrals. The outside of the cathedral is beautifully designed, in proportion, and well appointed with a variety of statues. The West door is huge and impressive with a variety of ornate Victorian carvings outside. Once you enter the cathedral, the visitors’ desk is staffed by polite and helpful members of staff who will guide you around the cathedral. The ceiling of the nave is particularly impressive and the grand arches are second to none in the UK. The stained glass throughout the cathedral is particularly impressive. However, when you get to the far east end of the cathedral, you will see the Herkenrode glass which is unlike anything you will see in any other cathedral in the UK. There were several treasures contained within the chapter house, such as the Saint Chad Gospel which make this cathedral a real pleasure to walk around and visit. There is parking nearby in Bird Street car park and the public toilets are easily accessed. The Minster Pool next door is also worth a visit to feed the ducks. Although Lichfield is not on the usual tourist trail, it is worth a detour. I can’t recommend this cathedral...
