Visited the cafe Saturday for lunch and the food was nice however the Manageress and some of the staff let it down greatly. Leeanne who was our waitress was the saving Grace. A drink has been spilt all over my cousin and went into her handbag, it was cleaned up and apology made, however when my Cousin took the bowl of water and cloth back into the kitchen, plus all soggy serviettes etc she asked “Can you take this from me please?” Her reply was a very rude “No I can’t” and the person walked off. With in mind a while drink had just been spilt all over my cousin her response was not very customer focussed at all!! We had our lunch and they knocked the price of the panini and cappuccino off the bill, however when my cousin asked for the managers name and contact details to complain about the staff in the kitchen, the ‘Manageress’ came out all guns blazing and was so outrageously rude and said my Cousins attitude was rude and she had been rude to her staff (seeming only one member of staff server us, that was difficult to understand) the ‘Manageress’ continued her tirade of rudeness saying she ‘hadn’t got time to take it and was in the middle of 10 covers’ & when we said her customer service lacked greatly she said “well there are far more cafes you can go to as you will not be welcome back here”. No loss at all. I feel very sad for the staff who work there, no wonder they all looked so miserable with a manageress like that. Terrible service apart from Leeanne who was lovely. She made the experience a lot better but the manageress clearly needs some stress management lessons and to go on a customer services course as she was awful. Her managerial skills were a lot to be desired. The table next to us were served a filter coffee in a broken cafetière, when taken back the waitress even said “oh you just have had a broken one”, the comment was made from them “the need a skip out here for all the broken things they have our here” there are chairs outside the cafe that our broken. Such a shame our birthday visit to Lichfield was marred but such an unprofessional, rude and on the edge woman who called herself the ‘manageress’. Hasten to add, we won’t be visiting...
Read moreOh my goodness I have reviewed the wrong restaurant! I have been visiting The Olde Nook for years and have never had a bad experience: top quality home made food and friendly service. The only reason we went around the corner to Bistro 19 on this occasion was because we had an unruly puppy with us and they had a grassed area.
I am so sorry for making this mistake and thank you for responding and allowing me the chance to put this right.
Firstly I do not like writing reviews like this. My wife and i had our dog with us so we had to sit outside. My tea arrived without the sugar bowl so another journey back to the table. My pork and stuffing roll arrived with a whole packet of Paxo in it and what looked like slithers of brown boiled ham on top which i guess was the gravy - accompanied by a "salad bowl" of lettuce that had lived in a previous century and one halved cherry tomato £8,50!
My wife had ordered an egg Mayo on Brown and received a tuna mayo on brown which was the replaced by an egg mayo on white (mainly mayo - and a trace of egg).
I asked for another cup of tea - didnt arrive - we left feeling sick and ripped off. Yes we should have complained but we were starving and sitting outside and the staff didnt seem that receptive to any kind of constructive critisicm anyway - in fact they said nothing no apologies for wrong orders.
My wifes earl grey tea was perfect - cup + tea bag + hot water seems to be...
Read moreFound this place by total chance, and what a delight it was. I'm a vegetarian and really fancied the bacon, brie and cranberry panini. I asked our server Maddie, if they could do the Linda McCartney sausages in it instead of the bacon, she agreed that they would. My mum had a Coleslaw Jacket, my stepdad had the Smoked Salmon and cream cheese sandwich. We were all totally thrilled by the food. It was absolutely de-lish-ous! We did notice though that there were only about 3 members of staff. 2 in the kitchen and Maddie on the floor alone. I genuinely felt so sorry for her, she was run ragged the whole time we were there, which must have been a good hour. She didn't have 5 seconds to pop to the loo if she wanted too. I am amazed she was so happy and smiley, as if I was in her shoes I'd have been stressed. The poor girl spent half the time telling customers that the cafe was full, dunno why Richard couldn't just buy a sign saying "full inside" to pop in the window, possibly an LED one that could be turned on by a remote. How do I know Richard is the owner I hear you ask? Well there's a delightful sign that says welcome back from Richard and the team, and out of Richard and the team, it was Richard that wasn't in there helping the girls in their time of need, but enjoying the cash I'm sure 😉 Will...
