I saw a documentary recently about an Egyptian complex that was unearthed. It was originally built to celebrate the throning of a female Pharaoh. It was splendour taken to a level, that arguably, hasn’t been surpassed in human history. The Faro Lounge, along with its sibling lounges, offers a level of comfort that is at the height of British brunch banquets. It celebrates modern cuisine. It is so cosy... and the food choices are fantastic. When an eatery offer a vegan alternative, it is being considerate and most of all it is trying something different. I know some don’t want to try something different from the norms of British cuisine. There is nothing wrong with that; if a full English is what you want Faro Lounge nods and delivers a quality version of. Let’s say you wanted to break down those harriers and try something new. Faro Lounge smiles and replies “we are happy to oblige”. It’s no wonder it is begins to pack out its expansive seating area. Thankfully, with there being an abundance of seats, you and your many friends will be happily accommodated.

Heading back with the clan we stopped by here for some food. One of the clan recognised the menus from a place we previously visited and we got excited about the food. Yet this experience was very different. We were never given a kids menu but on my way to the toilets I saw them lying on a table and picked one up with some crayons to keep the little one entertained. Placing orders was quite a wait and food took a while to come out. A couple of the orders were wrong which were corrected but that was more of a wait for the clan. Food was not as good as the last place which was surprising in and of itself. It's only when things started to go wrong did we get any attention on the service. There are a lot of other places in the area that I'll be trying when next in the area. I hope this is a one off for this place. A change in chef would be recommended as I know how good this food can be. Hope you have a better experience if you choose to go. Enjoy.

We went on a wet Sunday afternoon. It was busy but we did get seated straight away, a table for two and our beautiful greyhound. It was a table where he was able to stand and watch what was happening or lie down and not be in the way on his travel bed. Food was delicious and quick considering it was busy, I had tapas selection and my wife a burger. All was demolished. Staff were very friendly. Dog biscuits were available on entrance as well as some welcoming rules for them and some coloring / activity sheets for children. Definitely recommend and go again.

Faro Lounge came highly recommended by friends, but it didn't astound me. The decor was fun (like numerous other ...Lounges dotted about the place), with eclectic decor and kitch paintings adorning the walls. We waited to be seated. And waited. And waited. Eventually, enough people left that we got a table. It was the tail end of the lunch rush, so we kind of expected to wait a bit. No table service when it comes to ordering; you either go to the bar or order on the QR. The latter was straightforward, with the menu being sensibly organised and providing options for extra this or without that. I had a flat white to drink. It was decent (not just a small latte). My meal was a nasi goreng, which was a little mild but tasty and hearty enough. Plus, can't go wrong with a fried egg plonked on top. The staff were friendly and well meaning, but not numerous enough. I asked for a spoon for my goreng (I'm not eating rice with knife and fork), the waiter said "of course" and I didn't see him again. Similarly, the table next to us was being apologised to for some other failing. But as chain places go, it was good. Feels like you're somewhere decent, the food is above average and the prices are the usual for Cost of Living Crisis Britain. If you find yourself in Lichfield, I imagine you could do worse than...

We stopped by for one drink. It was Saturday and busy but we still got seated quickly by a pleasant lady. I always have a good experience at this chain of restaurants, I've been to several so it was disappointing to have a negative experience on this occasion. Table service wasn't available for some reason, so there were queues at the bar which left my friend sitting alone. The mocktail I ordered tasted naff. Like plastic and cheap strawberry sweets. Unfortunately I can't remember which one it was. The worst part was the chap who brought it over. He just dashed the drink on the table, made no eye contact, didn't say a word, and had a face like thunder. My friend and I both went to thank him for our drinks when he came over and he had walked off before we'd even finished speaking. Miserable. We used the toilets before we left and they're not practical at all! Only two cubicles for the ladies, cramped into a tiny space where you're left getting a little too close to the other patrons queueing in the doorway and out into the corridor. So strange for such a large restaurant to have such tiny restroom facilities! As I say, disappointing. The fact these restaurants are dog friendly means they'll always get at least one star...

Visited with my extended family. Took a long time to be seated, which is ok but we were completely un-acknowledged for a long time by any staff. There is no customer service, order at the bar which is fine. However, my son had some hummus and bread sticks plonked in front of him which looked really unappetising and the sticks were partially soggy, with no word from the waitress. He wouldn’t eat it.

I ordered pancakes, was given a quarter pot of syrup and so I politely asked the waitress for more when I could get her attention. She was completely uninterested and told me to go to the bar. Never in my life have I been told to go up to the bar or counter and deal with a food order issue before, particularly as the food had already arrived and would obviously, go cold.

No one asked us if our food was ok or if we needed anything during or after the meal.

In a rising cost economy, where I have to choose where to spend my disposable income wisely, I absolutely won’t be coming back to an establishment with no customer service whatsoever. Will give this a miss next time, or any other time for...
