We attended here to celebrate two of my family members birthdays, we were greeted and seated quickly which was nice, drinks were asked for quickly and that's where it kind of went down hill really. The food service was extremely slow in-between starters and mains, so much so the waitress had to apologise after we were asked for more drinks and still hadn't been served our food. The appetizers were lovely! I had a harrissa chicken and my partner had the hummus with pitta bread, both delicious and perfect size for a starter. There was then, over 1 hours time until the mains came out. We are a table of 6 and ordered the food all together so not exactly a huge party unexpected on a Friday night. When the food did come out, 4 of us had ordered the Duo pork and they were all presented differently, some were cut, some were whole, and one came out the size of a kids portion. We then had to ask for a gent to come over and see the differences, and in fairness he was great, he completely agreed, it wasn't spotted by 2 chefs and within 2 minutes had a fresh plate out for us. My veggie partner did say there was plenty of vegetarian options and the goat cheese pizza was really nice, but soggy on the base and would advise it needs cooking more. Unfortunately as beautiful as the pork was, it was like it was sat under a lamp for 15 minutes because 2 were warm, the potatoes were the hottest part of the dish. Drinks wise, my friend had a passion fruit martini, the first one I'd ever seen without an actual passion fruit in it and said it was weak. My long island ice tea was also weak. Overall, was a lax meal, we felt it was quite overpriced for what we received and the timings in the kitchen and the service of food was not up to par.

If you're looking for a lovely place to eat in Lichfield, look no further than Ego. A contemporary Mediterranean restaurant with a wide lakeside view, modern furniture, and great food to boot. Despite having arrived early to our booking, we were quickly welcomed and brought to our table overlooking the lake. For the most part, our experience was great, having been served by very attentive staff and rapid food service. For our night, we started with pan-seared scallops on a bed of mashed peas. These were wonderfully tender. Following this was a fantastic beef bouginogne, which I couldn't recommend enough. The portion was large, with plenty of meat that just melted in the mouth. It was absolutely brought together by the flavourful gravy, with the vegatable crisps adding a crunch to balance the tenderness of the meat. My partner instead had Morrocan lamb, which was well worth a try, being just as tender as the beef and incredibly rich in flavour. For dessert, I would also recommend the tiramasu, which was perfect in both texture and flavour, particularly the marscapone. Though if you prefer ice cream, the sundae portions were certainly generous. Overall, the food was great, and the service was attentive. The only perceivable downside was a loudly upset child that repeatedly disrupted the atmosphere of an otherwise lovely night.

Thanks to the closed car park we had to find alternative parking. Not egos fault, but if it's ongoing, maybe a note to inform customers on their website would be useful, to them, as well as customers. Anyway, we had a table of 7, a few arrived late, 1 early, but ultimately it took half hour after ordering drinks before we even had one in our hands. Not a great start. The server dropped her smile for the rest of our visit when I enquired where our drinks were, and carried an attitude. Starters were ok. Literally nothing to write home about, expect pricey, unimaginative. Mains. 3 ordered steaks. Tbf, they looked very nice. 1 was done correctly, 1 was undercooked and sent back. 1 was overcooked, but chose to eat it anyway. I ordered sweetcorn and courgette fritters. These were bordering on soggy, and tasteless. Fries were over salted. My partner's halloumi fries were limp and uninspiring, although the dip was nice. she enjoyed the main, (pork loin). Vegan pizza. Omg looked vile, and must've been, because it was only half eaten. Again, drinks ordered were slow. 2 people ordered puddings, and I got the bill at the same time. Ultimately 2.5hrs is to long and majority of us were not happy. Would I eat there again..no

We spent an evening dining here on Christmas Eve and it was a whole mix bag of opinions on the dinner. First of all, we came into the restaurant and was greeted to what I presumed to be a manager due to wearing different clothing to the rest of the team. I imagine it was a stressful night for said person as it was very busy, but we were greeted quite short to begin with and then like we were an inconvenience once we stated who we were under the booking. We had a booking of 6 people and a baby, the person that booked had stated we had a baby with us and I had called up a few weeks prior to let them know that she would be in a pushchair. We then got backlash for having a pushchair with us and that they were apparently not told, I didn’t mention at the time that I had in fact called because I felt I would just receive more backlash so I just went along with it. We were shown to our seats and told “well you’ll have to sit here in the corner as there isn’t any room for the pushchair as we didn’t know.” Again left it at that as I didn’t want the hassle to continue. Once seated, we clearly could tell that said manager must have moaned about us to the staff, every member of staff that came over to serve us were acting very funny with us to begin with, I would even like to say in a sarcastic manner. The service for us to begin with was very slow as it was as if people did not want to come over to our table and continued to serve around us. Obviously we weren’t letting this affect our evening so we continued as our usual selves and were polite and tried to have a laugh and a joke with the team as that’s the type of people we are. This was falling short at the start as we still continued to get funny looks and were spoken to at times in a way where you could see people were annoyed with us again as if we had inconvenienced them. Getting onto the food, it was absolutely superb. Honestly, really good food. A credit to the chefs that worked that evening! Lastly, I’m not sure what is put on the floor but it was honestly like an ice rink round the whole front of the restaurant, literally from the toilets all the way to the front door, it was honestly like a whole vat of oil had been spilt on the floor, the whole restaurant was commenting on it, but we honestly were pretending to skate around the floor when going to and from places as it was so slippy and was honestly more safe to fake skate across than actually walk (noticed no wet floor signs either😬) All in all, the food was amazing but service was subpar just from the experience we received as we felt like we weren’t wanted there from start to near the end. It was redeemed towards the end as it was as if they started to warm up to us. I’d say I’d like to go back for a redemption but not sure I want to sit in an uncomfortable...

Unfortunately, this is a poor review of what was an attempt of a surprise birthday dinner.

This Saturday, I celebrated my 38th birthday with a visit to Ego in Lichfield. The visit was let down from the off.

My partner had booked a table for us at 5pm, although completely our own fault, we did not foresee the level of traffic on our way in and were 30 minutes late for a 2 hour table booking, remember the timing as it's important.

Upon our arrival, the reception server greeted us and began to have a hard time fitting us in, whereby the floor manager squeezed us in due to some cancellations. This was the second best part of the visit as that was on us, but they still helped.

Upon seating we ordered simply the mains as we had lost 30 minutes of our original table.

The drinks came in good time and food around 20 minutes later, both had the Fillet Steak at £30.95 each, and this is where it bombed.

I was looking forward to a decent portion and from the description it sounded great, with Sweet potato fries, however, when it arrived, it had been sat under the lamp so long, the plates were molten.

The steak size was half of the weight advertised and was around 3 mouthfuls. the fries were so heavily cooked they all turned to crisps and the onion rings tasted of fish, pointing toward a cross contamination with fish deep fried.

I finished my steak and left most of the fries and onion rings.

Finally we decided to simply take the bill, however, embarrassingly so, I was presented with a plate displaying happy birthday (not edible), however the restaurant was given specific instructions to bring this out on the basis of a desert order, not just as a solo plate.

The best part was our server Molly, a breeze of fresh air in what was a disaster of an experience.

Finally, no air conditioning, something out of the staff control, but something higher management should consider for staff and customers alike.

Subject: Serious Complaint Regarding Ego Mediterranean Restaurant in Lichfield

Dear Management Team,

I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the recent experience I had at Ego Mediterranean Restaurant in Lichfield. Unfortunately, the level of service provided by your staff was unacceptable, and it significantly tarnished what was supposed to be a memorable birthday celebration for me.

During my visit to your establishment, I encountered rudeness and a complete lack of customer service from your staff members. Their demeanor made me feel incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcome throughout the duration of my meal. As a patron, I expect to be treated with respect and courtesy, which regrettably was not the case during my experience at your restaurant.

It is evident that there is a severe deficiency in the training and professionalism of your staff, which reflects poorly on the overall reputation of your establishment. Despite the fact that the food served at Ego Mediterranean Restaurant is indeed enjoyable, the appalling service I received overshadowed any positive aspects of the dining experience.

This incident has left a lasting negative impression on me and has certainly affected my willingness to return to your restaurant in the future. As someone who has been a resident in the area for over a decade and a half, I have never encountered such disgraceful service in any establishment.

I sincerely hope that you take this complaint seriously and address the issues within your staff promptly. As a loyal customer who values exceptional service, I believe it is imperative for you to rectify this situation to uphold the reputation of your restaurant and ensure that future patrons do not endure similar experiences.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I trust that you will take the necessary steps to improve the quality of service at Ego Mediterranean Restaurant in...
