Visited this café recently as we saw some banging reviews. for a meal of special fried rice, chicken mushroom with chips with a side of War Tips, priced at £27. It's a colourful place, with not much parking, The atmosphere lacked warmth, with minimal interaction from the staff. We arrived feeling unwelcome, thinking they were closing, but though it turned out they were still open for another hour and a half. The menu is basic, a typical café menu for the local workmen in overalls, it's nothing you wouldn't see in your local chippy, probably less. If you like a lot of MSG or salt, hot and nicely cooked 'cafe' dinner, small portions then this is the place to come.

Had to try sans after listening to the hype train ....Choo Choo First impressions he food is seriously over rated. The chow mein was sloppy and just tasted of salt and soy sauce . They use vermicelli noodles that was soggy and just disintegrated with no firmness or bite. Wrong noodles for a proper chow mein. The prawn balls were rock hard and quite small and not value for money . The chop suey roll was ok. The fried rice was standard. I don't know why everyone raves about this place as plenty of chippies score much better . Maybe I had a different chef on the day? Won't be back.

Well I've been passing this place for well over a year, it's Sunday morning and not many places are open we're you can get to easily in a Lorry, Got a full English Breakfast to take away, £8 .. ok, well I wasn't impressed when oppend it, 2 dried bacon, 2 sausages black pudding 1 egg beans and Tomatoes, 2 slice bread, no hash brown 😔.. the best part of it was the fresh toast And the egg!! Wouldn't rate the breakfast at all, I'm questioning if to try the Chinese food now hmm ..

So, seen articles stating this is one of Liverpools hidden gems and our usual Chinese has just closed so thought we'd give here a go. Arrived and as nice and friendly as the staff were it was non stop bigging up their food and telling us it's the best and we'll be back before we'd even tried anything. We were expecting a really nice meal only to get home and find frozen chips which tbh were awful...had better at the fairground . Our main meals we hoped would be better but didn't look great. The special fried rice was less than special, no egg, no prawns, tasted floury ,bland and pretty much the whole portion got left (and my fella isn't even massively fussy so it must have been bad. The prawn curry.....well....it looked like something you would bring out the opposite end of your mouth 💩 Only prawns and a few onions, prawns were really hard and the onions weren't chunky...looked more like onion gravy. Now the taste.......this is what completely ruined the whole meal. The curry is so incredibly salty you need a drink after every mouthful. It's far too overpowing, hits the back of your throat.

Price wise......we found it to be quite expensive (even more so now almost every bit has gone in the bin) They charge an extra £2.00 just for having your rice fried rather than boiled...this seems to apply even to a half and half portion if our bill was anything to go by which is a lot compared to others.

So.....I think we can safely say we haven't found ourselves a new Chinese 🙈😂 Not giving me the option to add photos but that's not a bad thing....

Maybe don't 'big up' the food so much and let your customers draw to their own conclusions. Sad to say this was our worst Chinese take away ever.

Sometimes hidden gems should be hidden 🙈😂

I'm now off to make some cheese...

Ordered a few meals to takeaway yesterday, special chow mein was fab plenty to share also special fried rice was lovely too and salt n pepper sui mai. Sadly i wouldnt recommend the beef chilli sweet/hot dish was less than half a tub of thinly sliced beef in a sauce. Not full like other 2 dishes!! Beef was sparse very disappointed with this meal choice also the sweet n sour chicken was basically a large chicken dipper sliced with a seperate tub of sweet n sour sauce. Again very dissapointed. Salt n pepper chicken was again a chicken tender battered and chopped up!! The tubs on these 3 meals were less than half full. Paid £72 cash and felt really let down with this order. Was a special occasion for my sons birthday. Had to order proper salt pepper chicken x 2 from locally chippy costing another £16. Wouldnt recommend these 3 meals for over over £7 each. Waste of a...
