The Lingmell Inn — Restaurant in Liverpool

I went to my father-in-law funeral wake on 24/09/2020 at the lingmell inn If you are looking at booking this establishment read this before you make the decision We had to sit 6 at the table as per covid19 rules which we understood before going their but as we arrived we sat at our table of 6 for a member of staff came to tell us the rule then said its table service for drinks which is fine so put our order in 35 minutes later we get our drinks after repeatedly asking are we getting served well when the drinks came some of the glasses smelt and we had ti change the drinks the glasses debacle happened all night ,the food the homemade Lasagna was nice but first time ive seen scouse with no vegetables in it and tasted awful sandwiches awful hardly got touched we asked for vegan and paid for vegan food but was none, worst buffet i have ever tasted or seen,the music was spotify with ads every few songs. The service was very poor apart from one lady who did try but even she said she wouldn't recommend the lingmell. The was 2 bottles of johny walker black whiskey and 6 bottles of prosecco ordered for the night but was not their but then tried to palm of a different whiskey as johny walker and had to go to the off licence to get a bottle of prosecco. The floor when you walked on your shoes stick to it. My mother-in-law still waiting for the refund on the vegan food,when she phones up she just keeps getting told the owner is going to phone you in the next couple of hours well been 8 days now still no phone call from the owner the manager has called to say the owner is going to call I would think twice before booking the venue in the lingmell inn The buffet is well over priced for what you get The buffet tastes horrible The beer glasses stink The beer lines need cleaning The floor is sticky The staff need teaining in hospitality The music system...

NEVER EVER hire a hall from them the staff are very very very rude including their Manager. We hired their hall as we had a function we were told not to bring our drinks they will be serving us from their bar. Guess what no one was there to serve us and you know how hot the weather is these days (heat wave too). We requested a permanent bar man who could be serving us we were told by the manager that no one could stay at our hall bar constantly they were serving the main bar. We were so much frustrated that we had to keep calling their staff begging them to sell us drinks as if the hall was free. The staff ignored many of us they left us at the counter without saying any word. Many times staff would come to pick up something from the bar but pretend they haven't seen us and even when we called them with high voice they won't respond rather they left us unattended. It is very unfortunate we had no choice we felt embarrassed because we had 250 visitors from all part of the UK. Lesson learnt never never take your party there you will regret as we did!!!!!!. The manager was very unprofessional, unhelpful and unapologetic. In the main bar there was a big fight between staff and customers and many police had to come to help out. Just changed my review from a very negative review to more positive as after complaint last time I was there with a family of 6 we where given a £40 voucher which we used today , after phoning and speaking to Laura the manager on to day she sorted the voucher finaly, and I must say the food and experience today was nothing short of a miracle from last time, today service was a bit rough to say the least but the food was outstanding for the price. Hot and fresh on all counts, was trying to find Laura to give credit when it's due ,we will visit again now on that basis and fingers crossed that it's just as good. Would have give 5 stars only the fact of chasing the £40 voucher system I think is wrong but got there in the end, the other star lost due to being served by a Lady whilst St was eating crisp in front of us while serving us taking our order, we also asked for chicken roast to which she said there is no roast which I was surprised at, then she said hang on ,run to see the chef comes. Back and says yes they have roast on and she got it wrong as she said the chef was winding her up, no professional at all, so Thanks to Laura sorting out the voucher, but think it should have been easier, staff in my opinion need to have skills brushed up and worked on, but the food was hot and freshly cooked.
