A Feast Worth Lifting a Tomahawk For!
Last night we declared war on hunger — and the weapon of choice was a 1kg Tomahawk steak, masterfully carved, sizzled, and served right before our eyes by a chef who clearly graduated top of his class at the School of Meat Magic. Watching him prepare it at the table felt like witnessing a sacred ritual — the kind that makes you question whether you’ve truly lived before that first juicy slice hit your plate.
The result? Perfection — smoky, tender, seasoned with the kind of confidence that whispers, “I’ve been waiting all my life for this moment.”
Every side was a supporting act worthy of its own standing ovation: crisp salad that balanced the richness, golden baby potatoes that could have stolen the show, earthy mushrooms that flirted shamelessly with the steak’s juices, and artichokes so good they nearly convinced me to go vegetarian (nearly).
We were full, gloriously full — the kind of full where you briefly contemplate life choices and then, naturally, order dessert anyway.
Enter the Baklava with ice cream, a dessert so divine it should come with a warning label: “May cause involuntary happy noises.” Buttery, nutty layers dripping with honey, contrasted by the cool silk of melting ice cream — pure sensory theatre.
By the end, we didn’t just dine; we experienced something primal, beautiful, and utterly satisfying. If steak were religion, this would be...

We had a brilliant night at Macello Meathouse in West Derby Village to celebrate a birthday, and honestly, I couldn't fault a thing! From the moment we arrived, it felt welcoming, warm, and friendly, with a lovely bustle about the place. The food was incredible. Two of us had the filet mignon, one the T-bone, and I had the show-stopping 8-hour cooked Lamb Shoulder. Everything was cooked to perfection. The only tiny critique would be that the pot of sauce with the lamb could have been a bit bigger—it was delicious! The accompaniments—asparagus, broccoli spears, and potatoes—were excellent quality too. But let's talk about the desserts! We had a selection of ice cream and two delightful crème brûlées, but the hot chocolate cake was the true highlight. It was a melt-in-the-middle piece of chocolate heaven! What made the night extra special was the service. The staff were incredibly attentive, offered to take photos, and even brought the desserts out with candles and came to sing "Happy Birthday"—which the whole restaurant joined in with! It was such a lovely touch. What a great night out! We'll absolutely be back, either to this West Derby branch or to try the new one in Crosby....
Read moreVisited here today with my partner and our 4 year old son. Staff were lovely and very welcoming. Mine and my partners meal arrived first then had to wait an extra 5 mins for our sons and when it came he got chicken fillet and chips, when his dad cut into his chicken it was compleltly raw on the inside!!! The man quickly came over to us and took it away and replaced his meal and couldn't apologise enough. On our bill he didn't charge us for my sons meal. But I am really annoyed the fact that if we didnt cut our childs meal up for him we wouldn't of known it was compeltly raw chicken!!!! This is actually shocking how ill he would of been if his dad never noticed when he cut it up for him! But then we couldn't enjoy our own meals then as it knocked us sick thinking is ours even cooked properly?! The man that sat us down and got a new meal was lovely and very apologetic.. But won't be visiting her again. Was a let down completly and a...
