If you are a true Beatles fan who thinks you have done all things Beatle related in Liverpool, but haven’t visited the Casbah , then think again. At first glance this property appears rather neglected and when we visited we initially thought we had the wrong address. However this was our first stop on a four day , packed tour of Liverpool and it turned out to be the highlight of the trip. My grandchildren , aged 8 and 11, are avid Beatles fans . They thought the Casbah was the highlight of our trip. Being young and ultimately optimistic, they were convinced that visiting Liverpool meant a chance to meet at least someone with a Beatles connection , even Paul. I had read that sometimes Roag Best acted as the tour guide, so the kids were hoping to meet him. They know their Beatles history and are aware of the connection. Having seen Roag interviewed, I knew the young man who was to be our guide that day certainly wasn’t Roag, but it was Roags son Roag junior. This lovely young man was friendly , welcoming and very knowledgeable about his families past, the Casbah and the Beatles. Nothing was out of bounds. We were able to wander freely , take photos and videos and ask endless questions. We never felt rushed and were able to immerse ourselves in the history of this rather unspoilt and magical place. Neil Aspinalls grandson was our guide, wow. When this lovely young man heard we had hoped to meet his dad Roag senior, he rang his dad on FaceTime enabled my two grandchildren to speak to the man himself . A truly remarkable place, ran by passionate people who realise the importance of giving that unique connective experience to fans old and new. For the entirety of our Liverpool pilgrimage , my grandchildren were constantly on the lookout for Paul , Roag , Mike McCartney, Freda Kelly, Pete Best, Mark Lewisohn , indeed anyone who had actually known a Beatle. We missed Pauls visit to his childhood home in Forthlin Road by two days, but got to play the piano in the house . The same piano Paul played in carpool karaoke. We sang Please Please Me in Johns porch at Mendips. Despite their efforts they never bumped into Pete, Freda, Mike …….. etc , but they had actually spoken to Roag Best on FaceTime and been shown around the Casbah by his son Roag Best Jnr . Their one regret , they didn’t get his autograph. These children are fourth generation Beatles fans who are just happy to meet and talk to people with the slightest Beatle connection . I can honestly say that their visit to the Casbah was their most favourite part of our Liverpool trip. It must never be underestimated the role of the Best family in the Beatles story . True Beatles fans need to visit this truly remarkable place . Thank you Roag and Roag Jnr for this precious memory x Susan ...

Today we visited the Casbah Coffee Club, 8 Hayman's Green, West Derby, Liverpool for the 1st time. I really did feel like I was stepping back in time while being shown round the cellar of the building by our guide, who was friendly and knowledgeable. It's full of original features and was much larger space than what I'd imagined in the past. I 1st heard of the Casbah when I bought Pete Best's book 'Beatle!' back in 1985 when I was 14 years old and here I was in the very place I'd read about back then and where it all started for The Beatles.

You could quite easily imagine a young Pete, John, George or Paul coming round the corner! Its amazing that it even exists now 60 plus years after it all happened but exist it does.

It was well worth the trip over and I would recommend to any fan of The Beatles, if on a visit to Liverpool, to take a ride over...

The Casbah Coffee Club is an absolute gem. The Bests have done an incredible job preparing the club for the public and give an in depth, richly detailed tour of the premises and what the Beatles did there. The Cavern is worth seeing, even though it’s not the original place the Beatles played (it was torn down long ago). The Casbah is not only the actual, original place, it is covered by paint and decorations by the Beatles themselves, all of which you can go up to and touch. You can stand on the original stage where they played. Trace your finger over where John Lennon carved his name. But the Casbah is sadly not nearly as known as other Beatles sites in Liverpool, but it may very well be the Best! (See what I did there?). A must see for any real...

Phenomenal authentic Beatles memorabilia under one roof. The very first place where Paul McCartney, John Lennon, George Harrison, and Pete Best played as a regular paid gig. Lovingly maintained and providing regular personalized tours by members of Pete Best’s family. Their knowledge of history is excellent and provides a wonderful insight into what occurred in the teenage years of the Beatles (even before they were named the Beatles). You can book online for the tour and paid on the day. There is no signage at the curbside so you will need to make sure you’re at the right Street number of 8 Haymans Green West Derby Liverpool L12 7JG England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Once in the grounds the entrance to the Casbah Club is via the rear.

The true birthplace of The Beatles, and therefore, not to be missed if you’re a fan. Tours of the premises are reservation only, and reservations can only be made through Pete Best’s website. On the day, only two other visitors were there to go on the tour with my wife and I. The tour guide was Pete Best’s nephew. This made the whole experience quite intimate. Most of the basement club is preserved in its original form. You’d be surprised how small it is. Size notwithstanding, the history is palpable.

The absolute highlight of our trip! Fantastic place steeped in Beatle history. We got the tour from Rory Jr, Neil Aspinall's grandson who was absolutely excellent and very knowledgeable about the history of the place and really went out of his way to explain everything to us. This a severely underrated and neglected part of Beatle history that a lot more people should know about and it was actually quite moving to be there. Note you need to book a tour in advance and it is cash only
