Without exaggeration, Al phoenic is simply the best Lebanese restaurant in London by over one thousand miles and indeed the best Lebanese restaurant in the world both inside and outside Lebanon!!
I have already eaten there a dozen times in the space of three months, and brought my friends along with me on several occasions. Needless to say that they all equally loved it.
Everything at al phoenic is first-class: the restaurant is very clean, there is a small terrace outside facing Battersea bridge road with half a dozen tables, the interior features modern design, there are around 20 tables inside, with ample space between tables to make customers feel comfortable, and a large well-stocked cocktail bar.
The service quality is excellent: the maitre d’ is very attentive to customers, takes orders promptly and the food arrives within a short period of time.
The extensive menu features all the classic Lebanese mezzes that one would expect as well as a selection of grilled meats (lamb, chicken and fish) served with warm Lebanese bread, and several home-style dishes and a special dish of the day. All of it is complimented by several chef specials where chef Tony adds his creative touch to some classics such as his unctuous Hummus with avocado and fresh red chillies, his fantastic soujouk (spicy small lamb sausages) with a tangy tomatoes and garlic sauce, not forgetting the al phoenic fries which are sprinkled with the Lebanese berry spice sumac and thyme.
Finally the dessert menu offers some Lebanese delights such as Osmaliyyeh, baklawah and kuneffeh.
Altogether I cannot recommend al phoenic highly enough, you will be wowed with the quality...
Read moreTerrible service horrible food. My husband took me to this establishment for my birthday dinner as I love Turkish food and this was an alternative as my favourite place was booked. This place is a joke only two pink wines on the menu and no cocktails🤨 food is not authentic hummus, chicken bread is just horrid. It was such a disappointment, I don't recommend anyone visit this place unless they like chicken and chips editing my review as today Sunday 24 of July the owner of this restaurant called my husband and made threats due to me leaving a bad review. I was not aware I was not allowed to give an honest review about my dinner, experience in my earlier review I had forgotten to mention the disturbance that was caused during our meal by a table of four drunk men who were singing and swearing throughout our meal. Any other restaurant would not have allowed this and would have asked for them to leave not this chicken shop they just kept serving them beer. I repeat horrible place horrible owner horrible staff and the food is not Authentic Lebanese food. When eating food from the Levantine I expect better not kebab food at such prices - they should be thankful we paid for such horrid food and did not make a fuss instead of calling us...
Read moreA unique Lebanese dining experience. I had the most wonderful meal here with my family. The fattoush salad, soujok and makanek sausages, as well as the hommos were some of the best I've ever tried in a Lebanese restaurant, including in Lebanon.
The batinjan ajami dish (grilled aubergine with walnuts, chillies and pomegranates) and the hommos al Phoenic (hommos with roasted figs, walnuts and pomegranates) were both so creative in their flavours, textures and presentation. You won't find these dishes at any other Lebanese restaurant in London!
Having finally learned from countless meals at Lebanese restaurants, we skipped the mains in favour of 10-12 sharing plates between 6 of us, knowing we'd be too full to eat any grilled meats. Will have to try those next time!
We finished the meal a pot of mint tea, some homemade baklawa and a delicious and creative Layali Lebnan dessert: a creamy pudding topped with a nest of white cotton candy and served alongside fresh strawberries.
The owners and staff made us feel very welcome and the food was served quickly and with a smile. Thank you for the lovely meal, we'll be back...
