Absolutely five stars—and if you know me, you know just how rare that is. I don’t give five stars lightly, and if the system allowed it, Aspen & Meursault would get six or seven without hesitation.
This is not just a wine bar—it’s an experience. From the moment you step inside, you’re immersed in a space that feels more like a curated gallery of sensory detail than a casual stop for a drink. The ambiance, the music, the snack options, the layout—every element is as carefully considered as in a Michelin-starred dining room.
Now to the food: the truffle eggs on the brunch menu deserve a standing ovation. And every small plate we tried—the camembert with potatoes, the oxtail, the salmon—was executed with precision and depth. Each bite revealed layers of thoughtful flavor.
And the wine? The recommendations we received were, without question, some of the best we’ve ever had. We’re experienced diners, and yet the pairings surprised and impressed us throughout. This is the kind of place where you trust the staff implicitly—and they deliver, every time.
It’s worth the trip even if you live far away and only come for this. Aspen & Meursault isn’t just worth five stars. It redefines what five stars...
Read moreWe recently hosted our engagement party here - a huge thank you to the whole team! We’d already heard about the bar, and it was on our list of places to visit, so we thought we’d investigate whether they did private events. They do, and we would thoroughly recommend Aspen & Meursault as a place to celebrate!
The booking process was easy and friendly, and on the night, the event was incredibly well managed. Drinks were paced brilliantly, crowd control was fabulous, and service was so friendly - a massive shout out to Kieran. Of course, the wines are gorgeous, and George took us through a great tasting a month beforehand to select a range. The team know so much about wine and their passion for what they do is infectious. They also recognised that not everyone coming was a wine expert and helped us select a series of wines that would please everyone but were still interesting and exciting. My brother also said it was some of the best bread and dips he’d had!
Thank you for hosting a special event with such care and making it a night for all our friends and family to remember. We look forward to coming back for a more quiet drink in the...
Read moreWatching 'Aspen&Meursault' being developed is a 'Cinderella' story. How the owners took this typical British pub and transformed it into a uniquely outfitted 'low intervention wine bar/ cafe & bakery had the neighborhood curious. When they opened, they welcomed all with open arms, great coffee and tea (try the almond croissant, rich and delicately almond---not a nuclear blast) and thought provoking conversation. We went back for a tasting which included great anecdotes about the wine makers of the bottles that they drew, and all the wine sampled had as much personality as the wine makers. The stemware is delicate and even with an open kitchen with patrons crossing over, the Staff were non-plussed and navigated the traffic---'mi casa, su casa' springs to mind. They have this sparkling wine that you can buy by the glass and it is absolutely fantastic; balance that with a cozy corner table with lots of cushions to prop you up after a nice long walk along the River, and the genuine courtesy of 'Sunny' and Staff makes 'Aspen and Meursault' so appreciated in Battersea...and worth...
