Newly opened No Fifty Cheyne is a brasseire in Chelsea serving British dishes with the addition of an open grill for diners to enjoy. The setting is sophisticated and elegant making it feel quite special.
The cocktail list is creative and has twists to classics available. We tried the Make tequila great again (£11) with cacao infused ocho tequila, honey water, amaro montenegro, teapot bitters and ginger ale. Our second choice was the Pavillion sour £11 with absolut elyx, Pierre Ferand ry curacao, lillet rose, cranberry, lemon, scented with roja dove enigma pour homme. Both were incredibly light and crisp in taste and simply yet elegantly presented.
We started with the Seared scallop with bacon jam, cep mushroom and asparagus sauce £19.50. Staff were incredibly easygoing about accommodating a change to this dish to remove the meat and it was a delicious light starter. Equally impressive was the green bean and artichoke salad with truffle vinaigrette, almonds and popped quinoa (£10.50). We loved the pops of flavour and texture and would certainly order this again.
We opted for the fish choices and tried the Fillet of hake with peas and broad beans, white wine and peppercorn sauce (£24.50). We also sampled the halibut, soft leeks and courgette with lobster bisque (£32). Both were incredibly well cooked; flaky and tender with rich flavourful sauces. The lobster bisque in particular was a real highlight.
We devoured the Creme Brulee (£9). It was lovely and creamy with a satisfyingly crackly top to break through. The Hot chocolate fondant with salted caramel sauce (£11.50) was also well received. Each component was steeped in rich flavour, the passion fruit ice cream was gorgeously fruity and the fondant lovely and rich. The two flavours were not the most natural pairing but we still enjoyed the dish.
No Fifty Cheyne is an exquisite brasserie in Chelsea. From the service to the beautiful floral decor, intimate space, sumptuous furniture and wonderfully crafted dishes, it was wonderful.
The ingredients are of the finest quality and the emphasis on dining here being a real experience is evident from the level of service and the open grill coming to life in the midst of the dining room. We appreciated the level of attention to detail here and it is absolutely a great treat for a special occasion given the price tag. There is a beautiful cocktail bar upstairs perfect for a drink also should you wish to check...
Read moreWorst service ever! Was told as I was a walk in customer (I have had a confirmed booking for 6:30pm) the table needs to be returned now when I tried to order the souflee at 8:20pm. They then changing the story that the policy was stated on the reservation email which I never received! I then questioned them why I was not informed before they sat me down! Otherwise, I choose somewhere else to dine tonight!
The worst thing was the utterly disgusting hand gesture by a bold headed male staff indicating the waiter that he needs my table back right now and I can't have souflee as dessert. Alexander, the waiter was very accommodating and helpful, and sorry for putting you into this awkward situation!
I would not recommend this place to anyone! Do not waste your time or money in this place! There are many places in the area to spend your money in Chelsea and the surrounding areas! I've not been treated in such disgusting way in a place where I spent a decent amount of money as a single diner!
Just to highlight a cherry on this rotten cake, I was served a glass of dead flat rose champagne at the price of £19+! as soon as I sat down which I had to returned back to the bar! Alexander was embarrassed agreeing that this was not accepted as flat as a glass of rosé wine!!
I'm a level 7 Google local guide and I'm someone who is very forgiving and appreciating everything in the hospitality/service industry. But this place is utterly shocking! I would tell everyone I know around me not to waste their money...
Read moreCame for the Saturday roast and to see what all the fuss was about. Extremely pleasant front of house team aside from one tall waiter who seemed to think he owned the place. Poor attitude.
Anyways, house Bloody Mary was on point. Could have done with a splash of a full bodied red wine but hey ho it was spicy and tangy and hit all the right notes. Our little one was hungry and one of the team made a point of bringing over chicken nuggets & fries as the adults were perusing the menu. Three of us got the roast whilst the wife had a tomato soup. The roast potatoes were to die for. Slathered in some form of lard or duck fat. Crispy perfection on the outside. Pillowy softness on the inside. Gravy was really meaty and heavy. Other trimmings were solid individually but when everything was put together on the plate it all became rather one dimensional. There was no acid to cut through the fat. A serving of braised red cabbage for instance would have added balance. My ribeye was good. Rump steak was a little tough. Cumbrian chicken was a winner!!
All in all a very pleasant experience in the heart of Chelsea. A touch spoilt by being overcharged on the bill. Rectified immediately of course.
Would I make an especial trip to eat here again? Probably not. Would I come here if I were in the area? Yes I probably would, just to try other things...
