Booked a table for 6 people for 12.15 on the 1st Arsenal game of the season. Despite booking the table in June (2 months ago) we were placed on a tiny round table at the back of the restaurant- luckily one of our 6 guests was unable to attend as there was no way 6 would have fitted here. Drinks came quickly and then we flagged down the staff to order food. They were very busy. We shared a starter between us and then our mains took over an hour to come. We did ask a couple of times and at one point the waiter simply raised his hand as if to say 'wait' which franky was rude. They were all rushing around so he probably was stressed. My friend had ordered seafood linguini. The waiter brought us a carbonara. They changed the dish within a minute (see photo) and the meal was clearly rushed through. Pasta in a pool or watery sauce. 1 prawn. We sent that meal back and the waiter took the bowl away and didn't even offer an apology or a solution. The other meals were bland. Not terrible but no way near any level of good quality which can usually be found in restaurants in the area. Very unsatisfying. Unseasoned, no olive oil or bread on the table. No water. On paying the bill they removed my friends returned meal and I expressed our issues to the manageress. She seemed unsympathetic and suggested she take off the service. I advised that wasnt really my point to try and pay less at the expense of her staff - the service was not really the fault of the staff themselves, they were just overbooked and too busy. She suggested that I should have risen my concerns mid meal but I explained that it's not really a fun conversation for everyone to 'rate' their food mid meal. We hadn't seen each other in 3 months so we didn't really expect to waste time discussing the quality of our dishes. You just expect food priced at these levels to be acceptable & it's only really once you finish that you take a moment to think and discuss it. Mid conversation she then simply walked away (!) as I was trying to explain the reasons for why we wanted to give them this feedback, so at this point we gave up.
It's a shame as we've walked past the restaurant countless times on match days and it's always been busy so we booked way in advance so we could share the experience but sadly this fell well short of our...
Read moreRight where do I start. This venue has a 4.7 rating on google, how? First of all two of our group had to drop out of our pre match ritual for which we chose Alcedos because its rating was higher than other local restaurants. When I informed the restaurant we were looked at as if we were criminals. They reshuffled tables and made us feel very awkward (it took over 20 mins to take out food order). Then at 12:02 because one of our group wanted eggs benedict, they informed this individual that breakfast items were no longer available. That person was not very hungry and asked for a portion of chips, to which she was berated by the owner of the restaurant (the rest of us had orderered burgers, etc), so what was the problem that one person didnt want a full meal because she was not hungry? Our bill came to over £135, so it was not as if we were only there to drink alcohol yet the arrogance of the staff quite frankly makes me think twice about booking there again, even though the food was reasonable quality. In a cost of living crisis this establishment needs to learn a bit about customer service, otherwise in a cut throat industry their venue can quite quickly empty. Poor, at all levels. Thats not even before mentioning beers where not poured properly and therefore less than a pint, and drinks/food were removed from the table without asking if they were finished. And most importantly why are the match day prices for the same food more than any other day? Seems like scalping customers to me,...
Read moreA hidden The best dinning experience I’ve had in years! I came in the restaurant after work. I was meet by a very friendly, attentive, warm Italian who showed me to a seat instantly. The ambiance was warm with subtle Italian music in the back ground. Lovely to see traditional dishes & specials written on the board with chalk, the way that nature intended. I was given good advise on the wine which was very tasty. I was served warm toast with butter on the house & fresh old water with the option of ice & lime in a clean glass. The place was very clean & I was checked on appropriately. Much to my surprise my food was served by the chief, a very nice touch. I ordered another drink that came in seconds. I’m very impressed. Delicious food. I’ll be coming...
