Nestled in the vibrant streets of London, the Allsop Arms stands as a beacon of British pub culture. My recent visit to this charming place left me thoroughly impressed, and I'm delighted to share my experience.
Firstly, let's talk about the food. I indulged in their classic Fish and Chips, a quintessential British dish done to perfection. The crispy golden batter encapsulating the tender fish fillet was a symphony of flavors that danced on my palate.
But it was the Pulled Mushroom Chili that truly stole the show. As a semi vegetarian, I'm always on the lookout for inventive meat-free options, and the Allsop Arms did not disappoint. The hearty combination of tender pulled mushrooms in a rich, spicy sauce was a revelation. It's a dish that challenges traditional notions of pub fare and emerges victorious.
Now, onto the service. Preethi, one of the staff members, deserves a special mention for her outstanding suggestion. Her warmth and knowledge of the menu made the dining experience even more enjoyable. Her recommendation of the Pulled Mushroom Chili was spot on and added an extra layer of satisfaction to my meal.
The ambiance of the Allsop Arms is quintessentially British, with its cozy interiors and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're catching up with friends over a pint of ale or savoring a hearty meal solo, this pub offers the perfect setting for...
Read moreHark, good fellows, and lend thine ears to a tale of a most magnificent tavern!
Upon entering this most excellent establishment, one is greeted by a wondrous sight: a veritable kingdom of brews from lands near and far.
A man could spend a fortnight here and still not taste every ale and lager, each one a testament to the brewer's art.
Yet, let us not forget the jewels in the crown—the cask British ales, as fine and true as any lord's promise. They are a nectar for the soul, a balm for a weary heart, and a joy to the palate.
And what of the food, you ask? A feast for the senses! I speak of the steak and ruddle ale pie, a dish so divine it must have been conjured by the gods themselves. The pastry, light as a summer's cloud, gives way to a filling so rich and tender, so bursting with flavor, that one's knees might buckle with pure delight. 'Tis a dish fit for a king, I swear!
Lastly, let us not forget the people who serve this heavenly fare. The waiters and bartenders, a merry and attentive lot, see to one's every need with a smile and a good-natured word. They are a credit to their house and a joy to their patrons.
In short, if you seek a place where the drink is varied and delicious, the food is a masterpiece, and the service is without peer, then seek out this noble pub.
Forsooth, you shall not be...
Read moreRidiculous experience. I visited yesterday with my 21 year old son. The barman accused my son of showing a falsified Driving Licence as proof of ID. He claimed the ID was false but could not explain why he thought it was false when questioned. This was a driving licence issued by the DVLA.
I've worked in he hospitality sector and I appreciate checks need to be carried out especially if you don't look of age. However this licence has been used for many years with no problems at all.
In my opinion this has nothing to do with the licence but the barman clearly took a dislike to us or my son and had no intention of allowing him a drink.
Training needed and personality implant required too for this staff member.
I can't recommend here but can definitely recommend the Sir John Balcombe Arms around the corner. Much nicer ambiance and clientele. And yes they checked the licence with no problems just like everywhere else that has...
