Got a basement room, it was extremely dirty and damp. We were right next to the laundry room which was loud, as well as other sounds you'll hear at a cheap hotel with paper thin walls. Staff was very unprofessional, my friend got locked out of the hotel for 10 minutes in the middle of the day because the receptionist was taking a private phone call and the next day while I was resting a cleaner ignored the do not disturb sign and walked right in without knocking. She then proceeded to walk into the bathroom to spray the mold in the ceiling with chlorine and the receptionist from the day before was standing in the open door to the hallway. The room stenched of chlorine for the rest of the day, in fact you could smell the chlorine up to the lobby above. There are similar priced hotels in the same street even with a higher standard or that at least is clean and gives you privacy. We didn't try the breakfast so I can't say anything about that, by the state of our room we didn't want to risk it. Also while the hotel was in my name my friend had no problem checking in without any questions or them checking with me, and we only got one room card.

The Americana Hotel has some great advantages, particularly its excellent location near the city center and easy access to the underground. This makes it convenient for exploring London. The price is fair, and the room was cleaned thoroughly every day, which we appreciated. However, there were several drawbacks that impacted our stay. The room was extremely hot, and without any air conditioning, we had to keep the window open at all times to get some relief.Additionally, the room was very small, making it difficult to accommodate our larger luggage comfortably. The breakfast was quite basic, with the only hot option being a hardboiled egg. On one occasion, there was only a single slice of cheese available, without any ham or vegetables, which was disappointing. Overall, while the Americana Hotel offers good value and a convenient location, the lack of air conditioning, small room size, and limited breakfast options were significant downsides.

This hotel has terrible hygiene, boasting filth all over the installations, including the carpets, walls, desks, etc. The staff has people that don't provide any sort of helpful care if you need anything, acting indifferent to any request. In our room specifically, located in the basement, the window led to an area with trash containers. The walls are paper thin, as any movement outside of the room was heard loud and clear, causing some restless nights. The location is great, and the breakfast is fine. There are other hotels near it so it isn't really justified bearing everything else this hotel has to offer.

Ok so I read many reviews on this hotel and they was generally all pretty glowing. Now I don’t expect much but I do expect value for money so in the intrest of honesty I’ll state I paid £318 for x2 nights. Having arrived I had a sinking feeling I was about to stay at my grandmother’s house! The reception guy was fine and friendly enough but having entered our £159 a night room I can’t help but be disappointed! Number 1- it smells bad! And I’m not a proud, snobby person but this room smells like an old lady lived in it for 200 years! We think it’s the carpet which does look questionable to be fair! The en-suite is tiny but usable, the shower is all loose, looks like it’ll fall apart and getting in and closing the door is a chore!||I’ve not slept in the bed yet as I like to review as I go but first impression is really poor! Oh and to add our room 202 is tiny! I will attach pics if I can on trip advisor. Also the tv (not that we will be using it) is almost on the ceiling!!! Really lazy layout and a pretty uncomfortable room! The window has a restrictor on it so we can’t open it on this hot July 1st!!! There is a fan but it’s the type of fan that you’d maybe put in a hamster cage! No air con which is my bad….i should have read more or asked but at 150+ per night in 2025 you should be getting air con! So far so bad….more tomorrow after what will be a terrible nights sleep!!!||Ok so it’s Wednesday morning we had a poor nights sleep which is in fairness primarily down to the heat which is not the hotels fault. We did try and watch the tv a little last night as Hercules was cancelled (grrrr) it’s hard work in room 202!! Having sat in here for a short while I’m absolutely certain I’d not stay here again! The room honestly does smell bad! It’s really poorly maintained and is absolutely desperate for a coat of paint, new carpet and new/clean curtains!! The bed base looks like it’s from the flinstones!! It’s old! I mean they’ve not even attempted to cover it up which is tragic! The mattress itself is ok to be fair.||We did only have 1 towel between us but we realised that yesterday and told the lad on reception who brought up 2 fresh towels to his credit…..he did however look as though he felt we was pretty unreasonable for asking for a towel each!! Off to Wimbledon today and then just one more “sleep” till we can put this behind us! I would also point out the windows have restrictions on and open around 3-4 inches at best…..and it is really really noisy here all night!!! If you do opt for this place bring ear plugs!! It’d be a nice option for grow adults to have the window fully open in this weather. ||So, breakfast is continental only (i am sure I could have found this out myself previously so that’s on me) which again for the price is pretty poor, I mean there’s cereal and some boiled eggs/cheese/ham and I don’t mind a continental now and then but this one really doesn’t pull up any trees….but it’s ok, my biggest criticism would be the toaster’s seem to need to cool down after toasting which was leaving myself and others a touch frustrated…..the coffee was good though! The WiFi here is absolute rubbish! I’m stuck on 5g sadly because it just kinda comes and goes. ||So I leave this morning, last night was very very loud as we had to have the window open to try and get some air in! I must say the mattress is ok to their credit, we’ve not been under the covers at all!||Overall I’m glad to be leaving today! The owners should certainly consider repainting and cleaning the carpet and curtains in this room (it really doesn’t pull stink) it’s not a very welcoming room. Value for money in my opinion is really really poor and as always I try to be really honest and find the good and the bad to help others, I also ask the following-was it a comfy bed?- I have to say yes in fairness the bed was fine 6/10. Was it a good breakfast?- no it wasn’t for me, I’d give it 4/10. Would I stay again?- absolutely not! For the money I’ve paid there are definitely better options than this!||What’s it worth (in my opinion)?- as it sits I’d suggest this room is worth £70-£90 per night, only based on its location and nothing more! If it’d been priced at that kind of money I’d have to be a bit more positive about it. What can they improve?- offer a full English, redecorate the rooms (or at least this one!) add air conditioning, schedule “big” cleans….the cleanliness is awful! If I can I’ll attach pics….the shower vent tells the whole tale alone but it is very dirty…and smells!||On leaving we wasn’t even acknowledged by the lady on reception, generally get asked how the stay was at least but absolutely zero….poor...

Americana is a useful hotel in terms of location (near Baker St) and price. Beyond that, it's a bit of a mess.

Here are things it has going for it: Under a five-minute walk from the tube station Around the corner from Sherlock Holmes attractions, Regent's Park, some restaurants and shops (Tesco express, e.g.), and a rail line (Marylebone) Private rooms with ensuite bathrooms Breakfast included 24hr access to a coffee/tea/hot chocolate machine, and an ice machine Free passworded wifi with a strong signal.

Here are some issues: The hotel is run down. Before booking, I read on Trip Advisor about the carpet, for example. People said the carpet was dirty. "Who cares?" I thought, "I'm not in London to see pretty carpet." But the carpet's dirtiness DOES impact you directly (where I put my feet while getting into/out of bed was sticky), and also indirectly (it suggests general maintenance issues with the hotel). And maintenance was indeed an issue. A couple of days in, we got a call from the front desk stating that water from our shower was dripping into the bedroom below us. Nothing wild was happening in/around our shower... just a regular shower caused it to rain below. The person on the phone said that the owners are aware of the problem, but do nothing, so could we put some extra towels down? And so for the rest of our stay our bathroom had a carpet of towels while showering. At least that carpet was clean. Which brings me to cleanliness. The cleaning staff didn't actually clean. They made the bed and arranged/changed the towels... but nothing else. The bathroom clearly went uncleaned, the soap dispenser got dangerously low, etc. The breakfast was pretty boring and simple. I'd rather have been charged a lower daily rate at the hotel and bought a yogurt at the Tesco Express down the block. Most of the breakfast was carbs (bread, pastries, croissants, cereal, etc.). The people at the front desk were mostly unhelpful. One guy seemed great, and everyone else was very reluctant to help with anything that required actual work. Our safe needed to be reset (something that would have taken 30 seconds after looking up the reset code), but over the course of a week it was never reset despite our asking. We asked for a few more hangers since we were missing some, but over the course of a week we never got more despite our asking. Etc. The room had a No Smoking sign on it, but clearly smelled like smoke.

In sum, my feeling is that if you're staying just one or two nights, the hotel will likely be fine for you. Beyond that, the issues above start to wear on you. I'm not sure I'd have wanted to pay much more to be in another hotel (again, we booked this one for price and location), but I'd certainly...

I had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. Even though I had a non-refundable reservation, I asked them to work with me in different ways (such as moving the dates, offering a refund, or giving me a voucher), but they refused every option and simply told me that because I booked through a third party, they couldn’t do anything. I contacted the platform where I made the reservation, but they reiterated that I had to speak directly with the hotel, but they didn't want to listen to me.|On top of that, the staff were extremely rude and unhelpful. I had a simple request — just to have written confirmation that I would not be staying at the hotel — but instead of offering any assistance, they sent me an email telling me the matter was closed and that I should not contact the hotel again.|The tone of their message was dismissive, unprofessional, and made me feel completely unwelcome as a guest. It was clear that they could have provided proof if they wanted to, but they simply refused to help.|They say that you should use travel insurance — which I actually have — but since they refused to provide a proper cancellation confirmation, I cannot even use my insurance to recover the cost. |They now threatened that they have reported me on the platform where I made my reservation for my "negative attitude", but in any case, their complaints were ignored because I'm right.|If this is how they handle enquiries before arrival, I can only imagine how poorly they treat actual guests during their stay. I will not be booking with them again, and I recommend others think twice before...
