🚇 Willesden Junction 🍺 £4.40 Guinness Angie’s is located amongst the busy humdrum of Harlesden High Street in NW10. The nearest Tube is Willesden Junction, it’s a five minute walk to get here. This Irish pub came into existence in 1987. Much like many of the pubs in the surrounding area, Angie’s is a converted shop. Long gone are the behemoth boozers than were ubiquitous in this part of town. The bar area is long, narrow and dimly lit, with the servery situated on the left-hand side. The decor here is simple and functional. Along the right-hand wall is a long comfy banquette that stretches down to where the pool table is located at the back of the bar. Around the walls are photos of loyal locals, Irish memorabilia, plus green, white and gold bunting and a well used Jukebox. Across the ceiling are some faux Tudor beams to add a bit of character. The beer selection was a no nonsense choice of standard straightforward keg beers. As this is a house of the Irish persuasion, I decided on a Guinness, my pint was excellent, price point was just north of four quid. There is no food served here but there are plenty of Tayto’s if you’re feeling peckish. I arrived just after 8pm on a warm Saturday evening in June. The pub was fairly busy and had an upbeat and lively atmosphere. I got talking to a couple of locals who had been on a big sesh that day. The two fellas were JCB drivers who told me all about their long friendship drinking in Angie’s. The service was great, the lady who served me was warm, welcoming and personable. I must admit, I was a little apprehensive prior to visiting as this neck of the woods has a bit of a reputation. That said, I had a fantastic local pub experience. The locals were friendly, the hospitality was warm, the Guinness was superb and as cheap as chips. It’s an old adage, never judge a book and all that, this was very true about this down to earth local. ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 01.06.24
