Read moreI got the amazing opportunity to visit Rubio for a pizza and drink promotion night. Their venue is in an unassuming location, away from the busy high streets, which gives it a relaxing and small town feel. I really liked the décor, with a wall of vynil records and some really comfortable seats.
I ordered their quattro staggione pizza but swapped out the Italian ham for Parma ham. The server was happy to accommodate this, and was very friendly the whole time. The pizza came out warm, and huge in size. I'm pretty picky when it comes to pizza, and this one lived up to my high expectations. The server brought our table some delicious chilli oil which I would highly recommend. It wasn't too spicy, and had a really nice and fresh taste of olive oil. The pizza had toppings nearly all the way to the crust and was packed full. They don't skimp on anything here. A friend at my table had their calzone which I want to try next time. It was huge and stuffed full. At prices between £10-£13 a pizza, I would say it was good value.
The owner of the bar is a DJ and former member of The Shape Shifters who had some chart hits in the noughties. He was kind enough to spin some tunes for us later in the night and spoke briefly about his passion for his new restaurant. Overall, I had a great experience and look forward...
Read moreGone downhill , its such a shame as it used to be amazing. The staff are really rude and sit on the floor chatting rather than serving or keeping an eye on customers needs.Weve been quite a few times as we really wanted it to work and used to love it there until things changed .On one visit the oil pourer spout fell off the bottle glugging LOADS onto my husbands pizza (ruining it)but they didn't replace the pizza and still charged for it!Their oven broke another time and they served us cold pizza..and the bill. Our last visit took the biscuit when we ordered another bottle of wine ,had half a glass each and they brought us the bill, turned the lights up full and the music off and started cleaning( it was 9.15) They had decided to close early on a whim.We asked why they didn't mention it before we ordered wine but they just brought the bill and carried on tidying up.Are you under new ownership or management I wonder?this is all so far removed forth wonderful place you used to...
