Babur To Go — Restaurant in London

Babur is definitively an excellent Indian takeaway, and has been our go-to curry callout for the last five years.

We started ordering there when we moved into the immediate Honor Oak Park area, and have become so used to the consistency in quality of our favourite dishes that we still order from them every week, despite having moved further East to the most southerly reaches of Lewisham (a postcode in which we are now required to pay a gradually increasing delivery charge to Babur).

I always order the chicken tikka-Bhuna, my wives mixes it up a bit but usually goes veggie rogan josh or jalfreizi. The dishes are really reliable, though the heat of my Bhuna does vary time to time, but I don’t mind that.

The delivery time is a little long with their standard estimation being 1 hour 15, and this usually being accurate, but this is testament to the quality and popularity of the establishment. I think a lot of this success comes from the critical acclaim received by their way in restaurant, Babur, which we ate at a couple of times ago back when we lived in the area. I’ll reserve comments about the restaurant for a separate review.

In conclusion, Babur-to-go is an excellent quality and very consistent Indian takeaway. They are a little slow sometimes and the driver perpetually ignores my delivery note to NOT KNOCK OR RING THE DOORBELL PLEASE PHONE ME INSTEAD BECAUSE THE BABY IS ASLEEP but otherwise can’t fault them. If I could give this -0 stars I would. Ordered on the website. I specifically ordered 2 portions of Lamb Samosas. Two portions of another lamb starter dish arrived. I called and politely informed them they had made a mistake and that I hadn't received my lamb samosas. The person I spoke to accused me of being wrong and said I had obviously never ordered this in the first place. I suggested again politely that I had only wanted the samosas and again explained that the reason I was calling was because I had not received what I ordered not because I was some chancer trying to get free food!. He refused to accept that I hadn't received what I ordered. Yet bizarrely admitted "our website can malfunction so I apologise for that" so I said I understand that so can you please now send me what I ordered, and explained I was happy to hand back the incorrect dishes which were untouched. He said "they're no use to me now" and again said he refused to send me the correct order, and so then I suggested that a social media post was appropriate to report the horrendous customer service I received. He then accused me of "BLACKMAIL"! . Rubbish food, disgraceful service. Don't go near this place. Genuinely the worst Indian I have ever...

Super disappointed with the service and the portion size!

I have been ordering from Babur for a few years now and the service just keeps getting worse. Last night I went to the takeaway and placed an order which they said would be half an hour, after waiting 30 mins went into collect only to be told it would be an additional 20 mins.

When we eventually got home I opened up my prawn rogan josh only to find the container wasn’t even half filled with sauce and had 2 king prawns, a dish which cost £9! Absolutely disappointed with this treatment, especially in a time when customer service should be of the upmost importance.

Babur before you reply saying how busy it was, which is the same excuse on previous reviews...have some respect for your customers and do what you are meant to do, provide customers with a good experience and the entire meal they paid for. This is not the first time I have been disappointed with my portion size or order time, the past 3 or 4 orders have been horrendous. Your service and food never used to...
