Baxfood Caribbean — Restaurant in London

On my first visit to BAXFOOD Caribbean I was captivated by the filled dumplings. You can choose Jerk meat or tofu mushroom so I got the tofu mushroom as not many places offer that. Basically it was like a savoury donut sliced in half and filled with Jerk. It was really tasty with the tofu puffs and mushrooms but I found it quite spicy. I managed to get to sample their festival and oxtail with butterbeans which were so delicious. Somehow I had a craving for their dumplings so went back. Most dumplings that you see are already fried and sitting there until you buy them. I was really surprised that the dumplings are fried to order at Baxfood. Having them straight from the fryer tastes very different. They are soft when they are hot and as they cool down they have a chew to them, this time I had it a non Jamaican way with melted Camembert and it was so good. The dumplings on their own taste savoury and there is a unique taste that I cannot describe but...

I think this place is too far gone for a complaint. The food is disgusting and I would not feed it to my dog. I paid £33 for 2 dishes which is way to dear. They need to start again. Re-brand. Re-evaluate and go again. You have a good shop in a good location which has potential. Don’t take this criticism as personal but the food is rotten. Start again. Everything u do now dont do again. Change every reciepe. Start again. Close the shop for a couple weeks. Clean it. Think every dish through and how’s it’s made. Change the name. Change the staff (no energy) and go again and you have potential. I would recommend trying Caribbean food from other restaurants and takeaway shops so you can realise the difference in taste, texture and quality. I ordered the oxtail with white rice, dumplings, coleslaw and prawn fritters and let me tell you… the delivery was quick! I am SOOOOO happy to have found this lovely Caribbean restaurant! The food was so good we had to call them right away to thank them and let them know it was much appreciated! The rice was cooked to perfection, the oxtail was tender and bursting with flavour and don’t even get me started on the fresh and fluffy dumplings! The lady who picked up the phone was so lovely, professional and polite! Such a win for us! Will most definitely be supporting this business once again! Now mi belly FULLA goodness!!
