Best Taste Caribbean Takeaway — Restaurant in London

I’m pretty sure I was overcharged by around £6 and didn’t notice until later. That’s why I’m giving a 2-star review for an otherwise 4-star experience.

I ate in and had medium order of jerk chicken with rice and peas. Really good. The woman who seems to run the place was very friendly and my food was served relatively quickly. Happy with all of that.

Their menu in the restaurant listed what I ordered as £9. Online, it was listed at £8.50 (see picture). I should have checked the amount the man (a second person working at the restaurant) entered into the card reader, but I didn’t and it’s only later when I checked my accounts and saw they had charged me £15. Maybe there’s a £6 dine in fee or maybe they gave them selves a 60% tip. Maybe I was looking at the wrong menu. I’m happy to receive an explanation as to what happened.

I know that on a certain level, I should have been more vigilant as to how much I was being charged, but I also think that a restaurant must deal with its customers honestly. On the facts, Best Caribbean had not done so, though I am open to the restaurant correcting...

If you go to this restaurant make sure you pay with cash as if you use a card they tend to overcharge you. This happened to me I was overcharged and when I asked for my £30 back they said I needed to call my bank. My order was £13 not £30 I got the money back through my bank but it was a long process. The staff are not friendly and from reading through the reviews overcharging or charging people for food they did not receive seems to be the common denominators. Be careful with your card in this shop or better still try another Caribbean restaurant that is more friendly. Extreamly bad. Ordered my food online at 7 pm. Delivary was meant to be at 8.20. Waited a while and as no one showed up so tried calling the shop 10+ times and no one was picking up the phone. Finaly got through to them at 8.45pm and they said the driver is 2 mins away. He ended up comming at 9pm. Waited 40 mins for no reason at all. When he cam gave my food and drove off.
