Real shame to leave this review but a 2/5.
The atmosphere is very cutesy in this place and I cannot fault that. The menu looked promising, lots of variety and not breaking the bank. I ordered the Avo and Feta salad with additional salmon, my friend ordered the Avo and Eggs on sourdough with additional salmon, and another with Avo on toast.
Our main complaint is the attitude of the waitress. She approached us abruptly with plates for another table, and as we said they weren't ours, she huffed and turned aside. When ours did arrive, the order was slightly wrong - my friends Avo and Egg failed to come with any Avo, and an additional Egg and Salmon on toast was brought to us? Tried to explain but she was extremely rude. She ended up bringing a very small bowl of sliced avo over, and no salmon for my friend. At this point I discovered there was no avo in my salad, and could not fathom the idea to ask for more from the incredibly rude waitress.
The saving grace was that the other staff at the till apologised for the confusion of the meals and discounted our...
Read moreSimple and neat cafe on a quiet street near portobello market, with freshly baked pastries and cakes, and surprisingly decent coffee. The prices are quite high, but this is now an expensive area.
It's nothing dramatic, and it certainly isn't French or Italian in aesthetic or mentality, with slightly curious and confused interior design - lighting fixtures hanging from what appear to be hangman's nooses, festooned with flammable fake plastic ivy, and large areas of possibly illegal OSB timber walls, but compared to the state of Grenfell Tower, the place is a fairytale paradise - and the mild fire safety and bizarre interior design aesthetic concerns are largely mitigated by the fact that the premises are on ground level, so a safe and rapid route of escape is more than likely.
The current member of staff who served me - an immaculately turned out young English lady - was utterly charming and unreservedly professional, and her alertness, brightness and neatness of conduct made a strong impression on me. Keep up...
Read moreI am not someone who ever left a bad review but I felt this had to be shared. I had not have a good experience at all last time. Iâve been there before as my new local. Last Saturday however I was ask to get out of the place because I was working with a laptop. I was approached saying that âon weekends they have a policy not to allow laptops because of the kind of people they want to attract in.â No sign of such policy outside, I feel this is quite discriminatory, specially without warning as you walk in, and you cannot just wait until somebody opens a laptop. Whatâs more, how about children using one? How about kids playing on iPad? So it is only adults working on laptop? Please specify... I do not think you understand that your policy is leaving you open to a potential massive liability for discrimination. To add to it, I was even charged ÂŁ2 extra on a toast which I was not...
