I love a well-made sandwich and have wanted to try out the Secret Sandwich Shop for a while. I finally had the opportunity recently.
For my first visit, I ordered the Full English through their app. For some reason, they had not received my order but the gentleman who served me was apologetic and professional. He made my sandwich immediately and I only had to wait 10 minutes.
The sandwich itself was absolutely delicious. I thought maybe there would be too many things included, but all of the ingredients complemented each other very well. Even the bread was lovely and soft, just like the shokupan in Japan.
I have returned since then to pick up a sandwich before my volunteer activity. I always find the staff to be very friendly and helpful, especially Kaya San and Mario. They have a variety of different sandwiches depending on the time of day, including vegetarian and vegan options.
My only feedback would be that their app could be redesigned so that you can order the sandwich you want, regardless of the time of day. Currently, if you want a breakfast sandwich for example, you must place your order during certain hours, even if you are doing this the day before.
I will definitely continue to be a customer of the Secret Sandwich Shop and look forward to trying the other items on their menu. As I used to live in Japan, I especially want to try the...

Presentation is 10/10. Tastes decent and moderately priced as well.
However, there are serious defects that have inspired me to write this review.
The sandwich lost all structural integrity on the first bite. My hands were covered in a tomato-y, chicken-y paste and I completely lost the will to live. In an attempt to avert disaster, I began to chomp at the bulging mass of food that was slopping onto the floor but I only succeeded in getting mayo and filling all over my face. Vile.
The issue is that the bread size isn't sufficiently a) large b) sturdy enough to contain the mass of fillings in each sandwich. They are simply over-filled. What looks great on camera - and they do look great - isn't necessarily pleasant for the eater. This is not forgiveable in a food that is based entirely on the concept of convenience. These simply cannot be eaten at your desk or on the go.
Oh, and forget trying to put crisps in the sandwich. That's like playing Reverse Jenga, except every piece is gelatinous and covered in a lukewarm,...
Read moreI ordered online. The order took 50 minutes for one sandwich. The sandwich was awful, wouldn't even feed it to a dog. I paid £15 for a soggy bland sandwich. The cheese was like American plasticine cheese and they didn't put in my coke or crisps which I paid extra for. I chose a crunchy sandwich as I'm neurodiverse and need crunchy texture in my food- the sandwich promised crunchy onions, pickles, jalapeños and crisps inside the sandwich. I didn't see any crisps inside the sandwich, until later on I saw soggy speckles, tiny crumbs that literally appeared as if the crisps in someone's mouth after chewing and then regurgitating. Totally unpleasant experience, will not try again. Parted with over £22 for lunch and ended up with a soggy, bland sandwich that I put most of in the bin. You can tell there is no love going...
