We ordered a takeaway from here on Valentine’s Day - The food took over 3 hours to arrive, we spent the entire evening trying to call the restaurant and were continuously ignored and sent to answer phone, I think we must have called over 50 times. We eventually spoke with a man called Goram who assured us our food was coming and to hold on, we spoke with him afew times over the 3 hours. We found it impossible to reach the place over the phone so we called the other branch nearby and were told we weren’t the only customer with this same issue in the same night!
Utterly frustrated, we held on even longer, we managed to reach Goram again and he assured us the food had left and was on the way. An hour after that it turned up cold. Goram promised us a full refund for the inconvenience and was very apologetic.
3 days later…no refund..I called Goram and he said he would look into to it for us and would call me back after 24 hours. Never called back. I called again and asked for the refund, he said he would look into it again and to call him back in 2 days. I called him back after 2 days and said he would chase it again for me. Still no refund.
After several backwards and forwards over quite a few weeks, still no refund. In the end I gave up as it’s clear the business operates with no honesty or integrity whatsoever.
Imagine spending your Valentine’s Day with your partner staring out the window and trying to call a restaurant waiting for food for over 3 HOURS! Totally ruined.
Will be looking to speak with the owner about this.
Avoid this place like the plague trust me. Totally...
Read moreI've had many a curry in my time, coming from the Midlands it's as common as a roast dinner. Since moving to London I've always been on the hunt for an Indian restaurant that matched the quality of one's I had a home. Luckily I've finally found one! We visited Bombay Bicycle Chef on a whim on a Saturday evening with a hankering for Indian. We had a chicken tikka masala, a lamb green masala, poppadoms, samosas, onion bhajis, and some garlic naans. I cannot fault any part of this meal. The chicken tikka was probably one of the best I had. A delicate balance of flavours that meant it wasn't too sweet like ones I've had in the past and I mopped the sauce up completely with my delicious garlic naans. The lamb green masala was a rogue choice based off what sounded good on the menu and we weren't disappointed. A great mix of pistachio and lamb created a tikka more light but as punchy as the chicken tikka. All the extras such as the bhaji (perfectly crispy, not greasy), the samosa (lightly spiced, crispy pastry) and the poppadoms (amazing dips) were as brilliant as the mains. If you're in the area and need a guaranteed banger of a dinner then you'd be hard pressed to overlook the Bombay Bicycle Chef! They have takeaway only sites in Battersea and Kilburn too if...
Read moreAn authentic Indian Food restaurant. Most of the “Indian Food” restaurants in London are Pakistani and Bangladeshi run establishments. Hence, it’s not traditional Indian food.
The butter chicken is the best in town. It reminds me of being back in Gulati’s Restaurant in Delhi. Who serve the best Butter Chicken on the planet. So I can vouch for the recipe in this restaurant as quite authentic.
The Daals are also amazing. They’re done dhaba style, and taste pretty close to what they serve back home. The Daal Panchmel needs to be a regular item on the menu.
Their Dry curries are also great. Aloo Gobhi, Bhindi Masala are some of the best I’ve had in London.
Biryani and Tandoori items aren’t that great. I just wish there were more options for breads/Rotis. A Tawa Paratha option would work really well.
I order regularly from this place. They have been consistent with their quality, and I can appreciate that. Eating at Pakistani/Bangladeshi restaurants is not the same as eating Authentic Indian food. The chef and kitchen team definitely know what...
