The first time I went there was a young Indian lady on the till who shouted at me and rolled her eyes , she was extremely rude and when I asked to speak to the manager she told me there was no one I could speak to. However I recently went in again and there was a young lady with red hair who attended me and was such a sweet heart , she was very polite and handled my bad temperament very well which left me speechless and satisfied , I asked her to speak to the manager and a lady came up however she wasn't nearly as nice as the other young lady and once again this made me very angry . I think this young lady would make a better manager as she knows how to express her thoughts and opinions in a non offensive manner. The place has an extremely racist atmosphere all the workers seem brown asian and I was sitting down inside and I saw them looking at me speaking in their language and laughing this really offended me and when I asked for some hot water to one of the guys on the floor he simply walked away from me and ignored me, I went to the ill and spoke to the brown asian lady with glasses and she said she would have to charge me for another tea if I wanted more hot water in my mug , honestly its an expensive coffee shop to be charging me for hot water I should have never paid the...
Read moreOh boy. I've wanted to try this cafe as per my colleague's recommendation. I honestly felt a bit let down as I probably expected so much from all the hype. I ordered the pain au chocolat and my husband ordered the almond croissant. The pain au chocolat was dry and bland while the almond croissant was more fresh and tasty. Nothing special honestly. Probably the different shape of the croissant is what sets them apart from others?
The place is crowded and small. Although it is a laptop free cafe, there were many customers waiting to be seated while others were talking for so long despite being done with their food. They made us sit at a corner, (which I honestly think shouldn't even be a seating area), which was uncomfortable as other people had to go out so we always had to move our chairs.
The service was good! They were attentive and I understand they want to sit as many customers as they can but it ends up not being a good experience.
Based from my experience, I wouldn't recommend paying that much for the pastries. But if you want to give it a try then go for it. Hope you guys have a better...
Read moreWe visited Boxcar Baker & Deli for a quick coffee and a bite to eat. While my partner queued at the counter to order, I took a seat at a table. To my surprise, a pale brunette waitress, likely in her 30s, asked me to vacate the table, claiming it was needed for another customer who had already ordered. I explained that we had arrived earlier than the other customer. However, because this single customer was served first, the waitress insisted that we move. This was particularly frustrating, as there were stools available that would have been more suitable for a single diner.
The decor was pleasant, and the food was average. The coffees—a latte and a cappuccino—were decent but unremarkable. Unfortunately, the service was disappointing and in need of significant improvement.
In response to my initial feedback, the owners claimed that the customer who requested the table was waiting for a friend. This, however, did not reflect reality, as we overheard the conversation between the customer and the waitress. The customer simply wanted a table for two people to herself, and the coffee...
