I believe it was on the first open day this place had after full lockdown but I don't think that is an excuse.
The friends had a booking for a table of two and where already there. Me, the third person, turned up to join them and the person at the door didn't allow me to go to their table as it was a "table for two" booking. I understood the decision but when I saw my friends and the table's location, I noticed they had space for a third chair and there was only two other people (sitting in a different table) in the same area of the restaurant. I have no idea why the member of the staff didn't bother adding a third chair for me to join my friends. I overlooked the inconvenient and understood it was a rule they have put in place. I was given a table in the terrace where my friend joined me later.
The main issue came when we were told that any order had to be taken via the pub's app and we all were, in a way, forced to download and use that app. This wasn't too much of a problem but when a friend decide not to use the app and walked into the pub and to the bar, he noticed the bartender not doing anything and asked him for a beer. The bartender didn't bother to do his job and requested the use of the app to oder the beer. This would have been a good answer if the pub was full and he was VERY busy but there were no clients inside the pub and the bartender was literally not doing anything. My friend came back to the table with no beer and pretty annoyed (this counts as one less sale and one unhappy customer).
At around 8:45pm we asked for a menu so we could order a few snacks. We were once again told to use the app for that. We asked again to another person for a menu and he said he will bring it over. Half an hour later, there was no menu and no member of the staff around. Just before 10pm and just after all the tables outside were told that the terrace will be closed by 10pm but we could be relocate inside, one of the members of the stuff brought menus and took orders from the table next to ours. This was the last thing we all could cope with. We stood up and left.
I can understand these times could be challenging for all businesses but having a team that can not or it is not allowed to use common sense and think about or act with the best strategies to make good sales and maintain great customer service, isn't ideal or good for business.
I hope you and your team takes this as review on board and make changes that will improve your team and workers. I will not going back to you but I hope there are no more unimpressed and unhappy customers walking out of your doors.
Oh, I forgot. A friend that left earlier ordered food that was never delivered and paid when he left. About two hours later and after another friend was leaving, we received the food that was ordered and paid for at least 3...
Read more"Boutique" decor above a decent pub, let down by a truly terrible view.||Brewer's Inn is a posh pub in what is now a nice part of London. It specialises in food but still serves as a proper pub with Young's ales, and a good selection of big-brand lagers and spirits. This review relates mostly to staying in their bedrooms.||Location is pretty good, depending on where you want to be - Wandsworth Town station is around the corner, and that's surrounded by nice little shops, cafés and restaurants. Arriving here is a nice experience with the pub area being smart and comfortable. Check in was fine.||Rooms are on the first and second floor, I think there are 15. They're smartly decorated, living up to the "boutique" label they put on everything. The room has everything you'd expect, including a Nespresso machine so you can make your own coffee at your leisure. Pods were provided, weirdly they were all decaf but I enjoyed them anyway. Fresh milk was provided on our first night, but disappointly we found on getting up the second morning it had been taken away during cleaning and not replaced. So we were limited to black coffee. Bit of an own goal there. We did raise this issue but the staff just confirmed that yes, that's right, the milk had been taken away.||There was a well-stocked mini bar, as it should be in a pub but not everyone does this very well.||Bathroom was smart as well, but the sink didn't drain properly which is a bit basic.||The room was very dark - dark decor but also a single very narrow window. My "boutique" room was obviously a back room which had been spruced up. Having stayed in this area before and seen the many references to views of East Hill on the web site, I was hugely disappointed to find an extremely grim view. Definitely not "boutique" and it made the experience claustrophobic, even with bright sunlight outside. I realised there were more expensive rooms here which would presumably have better views, but I was genuinely shocked that it was so bad. I've had way better views in London in far cheaper hotels (inc Travelodge, Premier Inn etc) and it made the Brewer's Inn feel very poor value at the "boutique" prices charged. This makes it uncompetitive, so despite the good elements, I won't be back. ||Sorry Young's - I wanted to support you but you need to review your pricing and branding for the servants' quarters. A bit of posh wallpaper does not a...
Read moreOn arrival we were given a friendly and warm welcome from Silviu. We arrived earlier than expected but made a cautionary phone call the previous day as we were concerned about the difficulty,. parking in the area. This proved no problem at all as Silviu quickly arranged parking at the rear of the Inn. Check in was flawless and we were made to feel really welcome. The room we had was absolutely superb and had everything you could want in there. Before going into London we went into the bar area for a drink, there we were greeted by Tobias. What a gem of a person nothing was a chore, here is a person who loves his job and this really comes across to you, as the customer. The following morning we were greeted at breakfast by a smiling Sam, who once more made us feel really welcome. Before ordering Sam and Tobias came over and took an interest about our previous day in London and what we had planned for that day. Also you could hear the pride they have for this establishment.Full English arrived and I must say it was the best I have had out of all the hotels and B&B's I had stayed in. All in all I wished we could have stayed longer. The welcome and care we were given was warm and genuine and was not part of some training script as you feel in other establishments Tobias is hoping to go on a training management course. He has all the right attributes to fly through it. I would highly recommend The Brewers Inn and it will be my first choice when visiting...
