Update- a full refund was issued. Thank you! I ordered a next day delivery a couple of weeks ago and I think I’ll stick to that. Great service. The buns are Yummy too. 😊

I ordered 4 buns online and it said they are available to collect at store. When I turned up 2 of the buns had run out. They couldn’t find the order either.... or they acted as if they couldn’t to cover up that they did not check to hold the products. They asked me if I can wait 30mins so they can make a fresh batch, but I couldn’t wait as I had to return to work. The manager/lady in charge said I can have the 2 they have in stock on the house cos of the inconvenience caused (I had to commute 40 mins each way) and when she finds my order later, she’d refund fully. Well I checked my payment and they had taken the money for the 2 they gave me. Which is fine, cos the buns were tasty enough and that is the price for them. But they shouldn’t have confirmed an order if they can’t hold the products and waste my time. Also shouldn’t have said it’s “on the house” when it clearly was not. Order online but ring and check before you go. One star for service and 4 stars for the buns.

Order No....

I was excited to try Buns From Home as I'd followed them on instagram for a good few months and watched them grow! I also frequent London bakeries and enjoy trying a range of pastries.

We had the tiramisu and custard filled buns and a classic cinnamon bun, and underwhelmed is an understatement! We purchased them in the middle of the day on Saturday, so perhaps they were a few hours out of the oven, but I was incredibly disappointed. The custard in the custard filled bun was nice, vanilla-y and smooth, but the dough was neither crisp at the edges nor soft in the middle, and very tasteless. The tiramisu bun tasted exactly the same with a sprinkle of chocolate, an underwhelming flavour, and the dough was even worse - actively dry and tough. The cinnamon bun was equally disappointing - dry, claggy dough, not on par with others from similar london bakeries. We saved half to have the next morning and needless to say they did not hold up well overnight.

For c £4 each they are a big let down, and frankly they don't stand up next to the baked goods from so many other London bakeries (which are often a touch cheaper too).

Don't believe the...

I stumbled upon Buns from Home during the pandemic, and I haven't looked back since. I've been enthralled with the story behind it and how it has become one of the most popular bakeries in London. From being an at home pandemic hobby to becoming one the most popular and delicious bakeries in London. Since visiting I’m delighted to hear that they have expanded to multiple branches in London, though I'm awaiting the day they open one in East London. I've had the pleasure of trying a few of their buns, and my favourites are the pistachio, cardamom, hazelnut and tiramisu ones. I love that they even offer special weekend and events buns, such as Easter eggs bun, Wimbledon bun, bonfire night buns and even exciting limited edition buns like caramel-sided popcorn, love cake, cereal milk bun, chocolate orange, berry cheesecake, and pineapple cheesecake to name a few .. The buns are best enjoyed straight out of the oven and queues can form so I would recommend getting there early. The price may be a bit steep, but the craftsmanship, decadence and quality of the buns make it totally worth it! I'm so excited to share my next bun review with you soon!
