I used to come here to study once or twice a week as home wasn't a comfortable environment to study. It was nice to have a Latte and work on my laptop with my headphones in within a public setting, it kept me focused.
Unfortunately this is no longer allowed, I'm not a very sociable person and I don't have many family and friends in this area, so if I came here it's on my own but I feel that this place only welcomes those who wish to socialise. Once you have your order, if your not socialising then you must either stare into space or be a smartphone zombie but you can't study, work or watch videos on your tablet or laptop.
They've said they had abuse from those who come with laptops which Is understandably unacceptable, you shouldn't expect the business to accommodate your working and studying needs with WiFi, power, comfortable seating etc. But many are satisfied with just a regular cafe table and chair to work or study and mind their own business. Maybe they should just have a leaflet with some ground rules around laptops and tablets and compromise with customers rather than banning them entirely, it just shows a lack of compromise and flexibility from the business and shows you that it's their business so they call the shots on what you come here for and there's nothing you can do about it.
I only needed a table and chair as well as of course a decent coffee, I had my own WiFi hotspot and enough power and occasionally charged it. but if there wasn't a power socket then that would be my own problem and not the cafes. I know many say that a coffee house is a place to socialise and have a coffee, but that isn't the case for everyone and some come here to be alone and away from people they know and to keep busy they may choose to work or study. This cafe only welcomes those who share their belief on what a coffee house is.
I always thought a coffeshop was great due to the versatility of what you can come to do there while you have a coffee or snack, and you would walk in and see people there for so many different reasons, There would be people socialising, on phones, on calls, studying, working and I loved that diversity. If I just wanted a coffee I can make a perfect one at home, I came for the atmosphere.
Now it's only one and that's to socialise and I see I've completely misunderstood and misused coffeshops and I should have stayed at home. My opinion and experience on this however is once thing this cafe cannot dictate so I've given 2* which is true to how I...

Update/response: I changed the language on my review because I recently left another bad review (as you can see, not all my reviews were bad). I looked at both reviews together and decided that I'd used 'hostile' twice - once in both reviews - and because they were next to each other, I would try to find another word for one of them because otherwise it looks as though I think all staff are hostile. And trust me, I don't! So I used the next most accurate description.
I have had an excellent experience at C&S every other time I'd been in there, but this was bizarre and yes - it REALLY happened. I have no idea what a 'revenge review' is?! Because I had a bad coffee? I've never had a bad coffee there. I would give details as to what exactly happened, but for blindingly obvious reasons I don't want to be identified.
I have only made a few bad reviews, most of mine are good, and it's just plain bonkers that managers can't handle the fact sometimes their staff are rude, and we're going to complain about it. Come on, guys, do better.
Further update: also, it was a 3 star review - why is that so bad?! That is a rhetorical...
