Cardamom — Restaurant in London

Second time we took a chance and used this place, as the 1st time some years ago was very disappointing. Unfortunately, this time wasn’t any better. I had a lamb tikka jalfrezi and asked for extra sauce and for the chef to make it madras hot. Yes the extra sauce was there but it certainly wasn’t made madras hot, there was so much sliced onion in it which was absolutely ridiculous. The lamb was minimal, instead of the onion I could’ve done with more meat. The texture for some reason wasn’t a true jalfrezi, as it was overcome with a tomatoey flavour. My wife’s lamb bhuna wasn’t fine either, the meat was chewy and she had loads of onion slices in hers as well, but hers were crunchy. Shame, because we read the Google reviews and everybody seems to be raving about this place, but...

SERVICE IS VERY SLOW ! 2 waiters serving for 20 people and 1 waiter was wiping glasses the whole evening by the bar so practically 1 waiter for 20 people.

You need 3 hours in this place to have a straight forward 3 course meal of starter, main and some ice cream. Waiter wrote down nothing as said he will remember our order and then drinks order was wrong. Couldn’t be bothered to embarrass him.

Food was ok, presentation was nice , decor bland and cold just like the individuals that work there !!!

We moved to Broadstairs 2 years ago and miss you all at Cardamom. We came back today to visit Petts Wood for the day and had to order a takeaway before we left. We had our dog with us or we would have dined inside rather than have a takeaway. We took it all the way back to Broadstairs tonight and had it at home. It was amazing, as good as we remembered. You need to open a branch in Broadstairs, we can't keep driving 150 miles for your takeaway 🤣. But, it is the best curry and definitely worth coming back all...
