My mate booked a table for 5 of us for a Saturday evening. The restaurant was busy and the staff were doing a great job of serving the tables and keeping everyone happy...there was a chilled, positive atmosphere. Anyway, on to the food...for my starter I chose the Salt and Pepper Squid Bangkok Style Calamari (£8). The batter was light, crunchy, and not too oily either...or greasy for that matter. The calamari had a bit of bite, but wasn't chewy...there were only 4 pieces...I could of done with at least two more pieces for what I paid, as they were very good along with the sweet chilli dip! For my main, I decided to go for a combo meal, the Gra Pow, Rice, and Fried Egg. I chose pork mince over chicken for this dish, and it was a nice balanced dish. The meat was tasty and had a nice kick of chilli to it. The rice wasn't too soft or stodgy, and the egg was nice and gooey. A lovely dish...but again, for what I paid (£12) there could have been a bit more on the plate considering it's just mince meat, rice, and an egg. All common cooking products. So for this reason, I'm only going to give it 4 stars, as I left feeling like I could have done with more food for what I paid, and I didn't feel full enough. The service was friendly and accommodating. This place is definitely worth a visit if you like your Thai food and want some good, clean cuisine! Would definitely visit again and try something...

Authentic Thai with a modern twist, Chims a family run Thai restaurant has been at Cheam for a long time and that is a testament to there great food.

The first thing I would say not alot of places serve Khao Soi, but Chims is definitely one if the best I had in London. The soup was creamy, with soft noodles topped with the counter crispy part it was divine.

The other dishes include the typical Tom yum which was unique an definitely a family recipe as its taste wasn't your average, less spicy more towards sour notes.

We also ordered stir fried aubergines and omelette which was also tasty.

The venue itself was very nice , great ambience, its on par with restaurants in soho. A great place for a date night or hangout with some friends. The staff was super friendly and knowledgeable.

A well deserved 5...

I'm finding it hard to really rate this place. Sorry Chim's. Like the other reviewers mention, portions are VERY small and it's expensive. Eg 4 small dumplings for £8 and a tiny mango salad for £8. The pictures taken make the food portions look big which is deceiving. Flavours were lovely however. We cant fault that. Curries were nice but again very small with tiny iddy bits of cut meat. The roti was very oily and artificial tasting and appeared to be the frozen shop bought type. Anyone who has had homemade asian style breads can see that from a mile off, my husband ate it anyway as he was very hungry. Due to it being a small restaurant the tables are all seated very close to one another and it gets very loud and hot. If you want great value for money with nice surroundings/settings this...
