The restaurant itself is quite cute, nice variations of table sizes and majority of the staff are super sweet. Although in the same breath waited for over 30mins to be asked if we want drinks and even longer to place our order, we had to ask and chase the waiter.
The lovely waitress’ were however let down by one member of staff who deemed it fit to racially profile a member of my party. The waiter then proceeded to make inappropriate racial jokes and completely offended and embarrassed a member of our party. We were honestly gobsmacked and very offended. We did complain about this incident and also about the food to which one of the waitress’ apologised but did not seem shocked at all.
Most of us had garlic prawns to start which were frozen and did not have a lot of flavour, the bread was also burnt beyond stiffness. For main courses we ordered a lot of pasta - carbonara, sausage pasta mostly & a pizza which again we did not finish and because it was undercooked and soggy. We ended up sharing our dishes to try a little of everything and The carbonara was so unseasoned and mushy. The sausage pasta was also mushy and looked like a toddlers lunch. Not tasty at all and even though I adore pasta’s I left all of mine and actually had to send it back barely touched which I would never normally do. My partner had steak and chips, the chips were greasy and the steak again was under seasoned and over cooked. We did have one mixed salad that was said to be ok but the food and service was not worth the price. Such a shame as this was a birthday celebration but I ended up apologising to my guests for the horrible food and racism between courses. Absolutely diabolical.
The Chardonnay was very tasty and I do recommend that as well as the chicken in mushroom sauce which was good however the vegetables were steamed but not for long enough so our veg was hard.
Thank you to the wonderful ladies who work so hard here, we saw you running around all evening and we appreciated your efforts, unfortunately all efforts were outshone by the awful food, racism and a few individuals Who clearly need to be re-trained on customer service...
Read moreI live in the area and decided to book ahead and have a meal here with my family for the first time. We came promptly at midday, when we mentioned the name we booked with (the booking was made over the phone a week previously) the greeter met us with an "eh?". After a bit of minor dismay the greeter took us to a table. It was a bit confusing for us given she didn't check a reservation book or anything else. We ordered and the food arrived eventually. It appears to be an independent Italian restaurant and as much as I like independent places there were a few things failing here: the cutlery was terrible. I bent my fork while attempting to cut my calzone with my impressively blunt knife. the service was so-so. It wasn't very personable and we didn't feel welcome or anything. I'm not a suit-and-tie kinda guy, but when a middle-aged man wears an adidas tracksuit and a baseball cap to come to work as a waiter, you're expecting a larger-than-life personality to match. There was none (personality I mean). the food was ok. The spaghetti was very oily. The pizza was good but nothing I'd rave about. My calzone had a notably minimal filling. We ordered a mixed salad to share and it arrived as a bare minimum of chopped vegetables. I was expecting a chef's flourish of maybe a sprinkling of some oregano or special sauce, just something unique! But no. The decor was interesting. The ceiling and walls were painted as a mural featuring what I presume were the family members who own the place. I don't really know but it was somewhat unique. There was no music. At some point Adidas Man was playing with the lighting for a few minutes. The toilets have a random, larger than life Elvis statue which scared the bejesus out of my children. I shouldn't laugh but that was possibly the highlight of the visit. It was ok. It wasn't that expensive. But I think I'd stick with the Sutton Zizzi or Cheam Pizza Express for an Italian food fix if I'm honest - the standard (and the experience) is...
Read moreI have been coming here on and off for years, and have never had a bad meal. So, my review is an overall review due to multiple visits for birthdays and other family and friend events. Most recently, I had the mixed antipasto, and the cold cuts were very good, and the cheese nice. It could of done with a few olives and a bit more cheese. I've also had the chicken milanese and pasta al pomodoro too. The chicken was crunchy on the outside and nice, and tender and moist on the inside. The pasta not too soft and the tomato not too heavy...so I enjoyed that. On my most recent visit I decided to give the pizza a go. I decided on the pizza Mimí...which had a tomato base, mozzarella, spinach, Parma ham and parmigiano cheese, and an egg on top. The pizza dough itself was light and crispy, but lacked tomato base and got a bit dry while eating it. The egg ended up being boiled in the oven...it needed to be put on at the end, just enough time to cook it, but keep it like a gooey fried egg. Overall, it's not a bad pizza, I ate it all...but the lack of tomato base let it down. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is decent value for money. So if you're local and enjoy italian food, then it's definitely...
