I've been to this Café a few times as I initially enjoyed the cosy atmosphere. However, my recent visit shall be my last. The moment I stepped in, something felt quite off.
The coffee I ordered tasted as if it came from a vending machine and I did not enjoy the way the owner and her son spoke to me. I was sitting in the back on the large table and was told to move to a smaller table as they had a large party arriving for lunch. Fair enough, that makes sense to me and I obliged, however I did not appreciate the way I was told, more like an order/demand to move instead of a polite request.
Whilst I was there reading my book, the owner was talking about a recent bad experience she had with a customer. I felt a bit uncomfortable hearing about it so I put my earphones in. I get people can be difficult but I don't think its particularly appropriate to talk rudely about your previous customers in front of your current customers. Those conversations are best kept behind closed doors.
I was doing a bit of work on the weekend and was using my laptop. I didn't ask to use my laptop as I've previously worked in this café before. The lady sternly told me that no laptops are allowed on the weekend with a fake smile plastered across her face. What was even stranger was that there was someone else working on the same table with a laptop!
I then proceeded to pack my things up and I put my bag on a chair, as anyone would do. She then told me to take my bag off the chair like I had put a pair of muddy shoes on it.
This place gives me a lot of deception, presenting itself as a relaxed space, when in reality there was a whole lot of discomfort and tension I experienced from interacting with the...
Read moreWell, talk about a steep price tag for what looked like a cleaning challenge waiting to happen! The tea came in pots that seemed to have mistaken themselves for frying pans – a quick wipe down was part of the "charm," I suppose. And as if that wasn't cheeky enough, they sneakily slid a tip onto our bill without notifying us! To all you future tea-sippers, keep your eyes peeled and your wallets zipped tight – this place has a knack for surprises, and not the good kind!
To the owner's reply: I was almost okay with the service, despite the pots not being properly cleaned. But things took a turn when the guy handling the payment tried to be all sneaky about adding a tip. He was really dodgy about showing us the screen, and I only found out I was overcharged when I asked for the receipt. That's just not cool, and it's totally unprofessional to pull a fast one on customers like that.
I suppose I should tip my hat to you for graciously agreeing to refund me after getting caught red-handed. But let's not dance around it – you knew full well that slipping in that tip without my say-so was a real...
Read moreUnacceptable customer service received here. Never have a I ever been spoken to in the manner the owner spoke with myself and friends during our time spent here. Yes we were occupying a table for a considerable amount of time however we were the only customers in the shop for the majority of our stay, and in addition as students, we called ahead in advance to ensure that a lengthy stay would be ok. We also spent a fair amount of money at this coffee shop through ordering lunch, drinks and desserts yet the owner continued to consider ‘imaginary’ customers stating that we would be taking space if they arrived although we ourselves were paying customers and would have had the curtesy of moving if a larger group arrived. Would not recommend and would give zero stars if given the option. Very...
