Came into the cafe after a long day at work.
Needed to charge my phone.
Came into the cafe there was a long line of people at the till.
Before I had even sat down and was looking for a place to sit one of the Baristas, called out to Me and publicly embarrased Me by stating "Seating only for customers".
I responded with " Whos says Im not a customer ? Im going to put my bag down and place my phone on charge then I will go to the till".
I sat down.
Again the Barista called out to Me that it was only for customers.
I responded - "This has never happened to Me before and as the customer, I should not be experiencing this, when I havnt even been inside the cafe for 5 minutes. I will be leaving a review about this experience and sending this to HR".
Her colleague got involved and agreed that as long as I go to the till and purchase something what I had done was fine.
I told them I would be leaving a review anyway.
I purchased a brownie for £2.65
Im currently charging my phone.
Im in my work uniform, theres no way I can be mistaken, for a homeless man / drug addict / young man with no job.
Appalling customer service.
Im definetly sending this to HR and Operations department.
Sort the staff out.
Im a business owner, outside of work and self employed within the workplace.
While making profit is the bottom line and understandable, customer service gets you far.
Doesnt matter if its in London or not and rent or anything else is high.
Thats not my personal problem - I dont have to think about that.
Whoever runs this branch / franchise / Costa organisation itself, chose to be located here, therefore any issues with revenue isnt my concern.
Im just here to enjoy the atmostphere, eat from the chain and charge my phone.
I hadnt even sat down and I was treated like I was doing something criminal without being a customer.
I may decide after this to boycott all Costas.
Just for this, Im going to everyone within the organisation who can do something about it.
If I had sat there for 30 minutes and hadnt purchased anything, thats understandable.
I literally walked in and got verbally attacked, in front of the local community, when all I wanted todo, was make myself comfortable and charge my phone, thereby using the facilities and taking advantage of the atmosphere the chain is known for.

Read moreI am typing this review as I'm having my coffee at 16:30 on 04/10/2021. So I came in ordered a small Americano and handed my travel mug which gives me 25p discount. The girl behind the till did not add the discount so I made her aware of it. She asked her colleagues but they instead of helping her, kept telling her it's there its there (while queue is building up at this point of 5+ customers) and then the girl behind the till tells me this is included discount and I pointed at her that the coffee is £2.40, you are charging me £2.40, how is that including the discount? Then her colleagues come again telling me they can't find the discount on the system. I asked if they can apply the discount of 25p using different methode but they said no with a blunt and rude facial expression. Read moreThis is the 3rd time I've come into this branch and all 3 service's are ridiculously slow. Getting served is slow, receiving your coffee is slow. Reminds me of Manchester service!
A snails destination going from A to B is quicker!
Had to wait 10 minutes from the moment I'm served till I received my coffee. Not only that waited an extra 3 minutes to be served.
If you are in a rush or have a train to catch, wave it goodbye and consider yourself late thanks to the slow staff in Hayes Costa!
Please hire more staff and how about going into different branches to see how rapid they are. I.e- Costa's at train station, Bond Street, Richmond
I understand you may be busy, at least make the customer aware it's X amount of waiting time due to short staffed.
To top it off I ordered a Flat white all I taste is MILK!
